Sir Gregor ‘The Mountain’ Clegane was the strongest and fiercest warrior on Game of Thrones series. He even survived the deadliest poison of Dorne and was nearly invincible. Hafþór Júlíus Björnsson, who played the iconic warrior was a former ‘World’s Strongest Man’ himself.

The current scenario of COVID-19 outbreak has forced even the once strongest man into isolation. This reflects the fact that the virus spares none. Everyone has to play their role to avoid the spread in their community.

Hafþór Júlíus ‘Thor’ Björnsson posted a ripped, shirtless picture on Instagram with the following caption :

I’m finally coming up to the end of a seven day quarantine where I will be tested to see if I’ve contracted Covid19. After being in close contact with someone who was diagnosed shortly after doing some work for a job.”

Hopefully The Mountain will get through this situation as well. We wish he tests negative so he can be present at his son’s birth. Please send your well wishes in the comments below!

Netflix responds to criticism over Game of Thrones’ bosses’ new TV show

Every new venture is bound to be hit with some kind of backlash, no matter how good the concept is. Game of Thrones’ showrunners, David Benioff and D.B. Weiss are facing a similar situation with their new project, Netflix’s Three-Body Problem.

Benioff and Weiss

Three-Body Problem is an adaptation of Chinese author Liu Cixin’s novel of the same name. Last week, five US Republican senators wrote a letter to the streaming service’s CEO Ted Sarandos. They complained about the plans to adapt Liu Cixin’s sci-fi trilogy.

Liu made comments in The New Yorker last year in which he appeared to support the Chinese government’s internment camps where Uyghur Muslims and other Muslim minorities are being held.

Netflix’s vice president of global policy Dean Garfield was accused of normalizing the Chinese government’s incarceration of Uyghur Muslims by adapting these books.

Garfield responded, “Netflix does not operate a service in China. Netflix judges individual projects on their merits. Mr Liu is the author of the book – The Three-Body Problem – not the creator of this show. We do not agree with his comments, which are entirely unrelated to his book or this Netflix show.”

The Three-Body Problem is going to be the first project Benioff and Weiss will work on, since the completion of Game of Thrones. They have already proved their mettle with the amazing success of Game of Thrones. The new show is the type of fantasy genre that is right up their sleeves.

How do you feel about the senators’ accusations? Let us know in the comments below.

David Benioff and D. B. Weiss explain why Lady Stoneheart didn’t make it to the series

Adapting a popular book such as A Song of Ice and Fire for the big screen requires a lot of planning and hard work. There are times when showrunners have to omit characters from the original source. Fans of the novel were a bit disappointed, when fan-favourite Lady Stoneheart didn’t make it to the show.

Lady Stoneheart is a resurrected Lady Catelyn Stark. After she was murdered along with her son Robb and the Starks at the Red Wedding, her body is pulled out of the river by Arya’s dire-wolf Nymeria. She is brought back to life by the Brotherhood without Banners‘ priest Beric Dondarrion.

Dan and David

Game of Thrones showrunners David Benioff and D.B. Weiss revealed three reasons why the character wasn’t there in the show, in the book Fire cannot kill a Dragon, written by Entertainment Weekly editor James Hibberd (The book also revealed facts about the botched pilot episode). The first being George R.R. Martin’s plans for the character.

Part of the reason we didn’t want to put it in had to do with things coming up in George’s books that we don’t want to spoil [by discussing them].” Benioff explained.

The second reason was the resurrection of Jon Snow. He said, “We knew we had Jon Snow’s resurrection coming up. Too many resurrections start to diminish the impact of characters dying. We wanted to keep our powder dry for that.”

The final reason was the Red Wedding. The resurrection would have diminished the effect the scene had created. “Catelyn’s last moment was so fantastic, and Michelle is such a great actress, to bring her back as a zombie who doesn’t speak felt like diminishing returns.” Benioff explained.

According to Deadline.com, Peaky Blinder’s star Paddy Considine is set to star as King Viserys Targaryen. After several rumors about casting for the show earlier this year, the first confirmed casting is welcome news for the Game of Thrones community all around the world. There were rumors about the casting of Rhaenyra Targaryen, Alicent Hightower, and Daemon Targaryen taking place at HBO headquarters.

Later in September, HBO president, Casey Bloys, settled the rumors by confirming the casting being done at the headquarters. The show is now scheduled to premiere in 2022, with casting currently under process and shooting to begin in 2021.

The show-runners are Game of Thrones director Miguel Sapochnik (Emmy winner for the Battle of the Bastards episode) and Ryan Condal.
