13 details you might have missed in Game of Thrones season 7 episode 3: The Queen's Justice

The latest Game of Thrones episode gave the fans what they had been waiting for since a really long time and the fans just freaked out. However, the meeting between Jon Snow and Daenerys Targaryen wasn’t as friendly as many people were expecting it to be. Daenerys wanted Jon Snow to bend the knee and Jon was adamant that he wouldn’t and Daenerys even suggested that in her opinion, Jon was the enemy in the North. However, things cooled down a bit later on and Daenerys allowed Jon to mine the Dragonglass. Daenerys also came to know that her allies were attacked and defeated and we later saw that Cersei and Jaime outsmarted Tyrion and defetead their last ally. So things didn’t go well for Dany in the latest episode.

Elsewhere, Euron received a hero’s reception in King’s Landing and he presented the gift to Cersei, and she made sure that Ellaria and Tyene Sand suffered. Melisandre said goodbye without meeting Jon and Davos, we got to see a Stark reunion, Jorah got cured and Lady Olenna had the most badass death in the show till date. In addition to this, there were many details in the latest episode which you might’ve missed. So without any further delay, let’s take a look at the details from the latest episode, The Queen’s Justice that you might’ve missed. 1. Davos talks about change

Ser Davos tries to strike a conversation with Missandei and she just walks away and at that moment Jon Snow joins him and Davos tells Jon, “This place has changed.”

This is a reference to the change in the filming location for Dragonstone. We have seen Dragonstone in the past when it was under Stannis‘ control but during this season, the show changed the location and the shooting was done in Spain. Ser Davos’ line is a sneaky reference to the change in the shooting location for Dragonstone.

2. A Dragon flies past Jon Snow

After landing at Dragonstone, Jon and friends start the long walk to reach the castle and Jon and Tyrion talk about Stark men not doing well when they travel South and that’s when Jon replies, “but I am not a Stark,” and at that very moment a dragon flies past Jon, who is a half Targaryen. This seems to be a reference to Jon Snow being a Targaryen and maybe he might ride one of the Dragons in the future.

3. Melisandre is returning to Volantis

Melisandre informs Lord Varys that she’s going to visit Volantis and when Varys suggests that she should stay there for the rest of her life, she says, “I have to die in this strange country — just like you.”

Melisandre’s decision to visit Volantis might be very significant as Volantis houses the Temple of the Lord of the Light and it’s supposed to be three times bigger than the Sept of Baelor. We met the Red Priestess Kinvara in the last season and she’s the High Priestess of Volantis. There’s a high chance that Melisandre will meet Kinvara later in this season or in the next season and we might get to see the Temple of the Lord of the Light. Also, Kinvara might join Melisandre when she returns to Westeros.

4. Don’t judge a daughter by the sins of her father

Daenerys asks Jon Snow to bend the knee and he refuses to do so and Daenerys says that he has traveled all the way to Dragonstone to break faith with House Targaryen. That’s when Jon reminds her that her father had murdered his uncle and grandfather. Daenerys then responds by asking forgiveness for the crimes the Mad King committed against his family and requests him to not judge a daughter by the sins of her father.

This reminds us about what Jon said in the first episode of this season, when Sansa suggests that he gives the Last Hearth and Karhold to the families of the men who were loyal to him. Jon refuses to do that while saying, “I will not punish a son for his father’s sins.”

5. Bend the knee

After Jon meets Daenerys, they have a big disagreement over Jon bending the knee and giving up the title of the King in the North and becoming Daenerys’ ally. Jon tells Daenerys that he won’t bend the knee and lets her know that the lords of the North have placed their trust in him to lead them and he will continue to do so. We have had a similar scene in the 5th season, but that time it was Jon Snow who was asking Mance Rayder to bend the knee. In the 5th season, Stannis asks Mance to bend the knee pledge fealty to him or else he will kill Mance.

Jon visits Mance and tries to convince him to bend the knee. Mance refuses to do so and tells Jon, “They followed me because they respected me, because they believed in me.” Take a look at the video below:

6. Parallel between Euron and Tywin

Euron triumphantly returns to King’s Landing with Yara Greyjoy, Ellaria and Tyene Sand and he receives a hero’s welcome and he enters the Gret Hall in the Red Keep on his horse with his gifts for Cersei. The last time we saw someone doing something similar was in season 2 finale, when Tywin Lannister entered the Great Hall on his horse after helping defeat Stannis in the Battle of Blackwater Bay. Joffrey also made him the Hand of the King during this scene.

7. The Ellaria and Tyene Sand scene was a callback to the murder of Jon’s grandfather and uncle

After Euron presents Ellaria and Tyene to Ceresi as a gift, she makes sure that they feel the same pain and suffering that she experienced after the death of Myrcella. Both of them are chained and Cersei talks about her plans for murdering them. She says that she wants to give them a slow and agonizing death and then she kisses Tyene Sand and at that moment we realize that she is doing what Ellaria did when she poisoned her daughter. Once Cersei leaves the Ellaria and Tyene try to come closer to each other but they can’t as they are chained to the prison walls.

This reminds us of how the Mad King murdered Rickard and Brandon Stark. For those who don’t know, Aerys had put Rickard Stark in a suit of armour and then suspended him from the ceiling and lit a fire beneath him and at the same time, he hada noose tied around Brandon Stark’s neck and a sword was kept just out of his reach. Rickard was burned alive in the suit of armour and Brandon strangled himself to death while trying to reach the sword to save his father’s life.

Ellaria and Tyene’s final scene reminded us about what the Mad King did and it now appears that Cersei is becoming just like the Mad King and we know who killed the Mad King. So this gives some credibility to the theory that Jaime will be the one who kills Cersei.

8. Walking Dead reference

The latest Game Of Thrones episode also has a reference to the popular series, The Walking Dead. Jon Snow tells Tyrion that the dead are coming and that’s when Tyrion says, “Why don’t you figure out what to do about my missing fleet and murdered allies, and I’ll figure out what to do about your walking dead men.”

9. Grumkins and Snarks

During the conversation between Jon Snow and Tyrion, Jon talks about Grumkins and Snarks while saying that he knows Tyion doesn’t believe in what he is saying and he didn’t before.

During the second episode of the first season, while Jon and Tyrion are travelling to the Wall, they talk about Jon’s decision to join the Night’s Watch and when Jon starts saying that the Night’s Watch protects the realm from, Tyrion interjects and mockingly says, “Yes, yes. Against grumpkins and snarks and all the monsters your wet nurse warned you about. You are a smart boy, you don’t believe all that nonsense.” Take a look at the scene below.

10. A wise man once said…

While Tyrion tries to convince Daenerys to let Jon Snow mine the Dragonglass, he says, “A wise man once said that you should never believe a thing just because you want to believe it.” Daenerys immediately asks him if he is trying to present his own statmenets as ancient wisdom, to which he replies, “I would never do that … to you.”

This is a reference to the scene involving Tyrion, Missandei and Grey Worm from the 5th season. Tyrion tells them, “A wise man once said a true history of the world is a history of great conversations in elegant rooms.”

When Missandei asks who has said it, Tyrion replies, “Me. Just now.”

11. Connection between Jon and Rhaegar

We now know that Jon Snow is Rhaegar Targaryen’s son and during the latest episode, while speaking with Jon, Daenerys says, “We all enjoy what we are good at,” and Jon replies, “I don’t.” Jon was definitely referring to his fighting skills in the scene and reddit user King_Will_Wedge pointed out that we have heard something similar way back in season 5, when Barristan Selmy talks with Daenerys about Rhaegar Targaryen and his love for singing.

“He liked to walk among the people, he liked to sing to them,” says Barristan Selmy. Daenerys is a bit surprised and she tells Selmy that Viserys has only talked about how good Rhaegar was at killing people.

“Rhaegar never liked killing,” Barristan replies. “He loved singing.”

The show is trying to add many references to Jon being a Targaryen before he finds out the truth.

12. Ten good men

When Tyrion explains his strategy for capturing Casterly Rock, he mentions that it’s an impregnable fortress but he also adds that a friend of his once said, “Give me 10 good men and I’ll impregnate the bitch.”

Tyrion is referring to Bronn in this scene. In the first season, while Tyrion was being taken to the Eyrie by Catelyn Stark, he mentioned that the Eyrie was impregnable and Bronn replied, “Give me 10 good men and some climbing spikes. I’ll impregnate that bitch.”

13. Rains of Castamere reference

The Rains of Castamere is the song which talks about the destruction of House Reyne by Tywin Lannister. The song was played during the Red Wedding too and in the latest episode, the song starts playing when we see the Lannisters and the Tarlys marching towards Highgarden, which marks the end of House Tyrell. When Jaime comes to meet Lady Olenna, after capturing the castle, she says a line from song, “And now the rains weep o’er our halls.” This is significant as she knows that the Lannisters have successfully managed to eliminate her house, just like they eliminated the Reynes.
