Top 5 Game of Thrones stars receive a huge salary bump for Game of Thrones season 7 and 8
It’s raining money in Westeros at the moment and the people who are benefiting the most are the top 5 actors from Game of Thrones. Few months ago we had reported that these actors had renegotiated with HBO to receive a hike in their salaries and it was said that they would be earning more than $500,000 per episode. The 5 stars are Peter Dinklage (Tyrion Lannister), Lena Headey (Cersei Lannister), Emilia Clarke (Daenerys Targaryen), Kit Harington (Jon Snow) and Nikolaj Coster-Waldau (Jaime Lannister). The amount that was mentioned earlier seemed impressive, but it pales in comparison to the figures that have been reported by The Hollywood Reporter now.
According to them, these 5 Game of Thrones stars are going to earn a whopping $1.1 Million per episode for season 7 and 8! The current figure is simply astronomical and it puts these stars in an elite company of actors who have earned $1M per episode. The cast of Friends also earned $1M per episode for seasons 9 and 10 and not to forget Kaley Cuoco, Jim Parsons and Johnny Galecki from Big Bang Theory, who have been earning the same amount per episode since the last season.
Prior to the salary hike, these stars were earning $300,000 per episode. So this is one big leap for the top cast members and it also shows how much popularity the show is experiencing at the moment. Another thing that needs to be considered is that the 7th season will have only 7 episodes, while the 8th season might have 6 episodes. So this hike in earnings might be a result of lesser than usual episodes in the last 2 seasons. Whatever the reasons might be, the top 5 cast members are certainly partying at the moment and the Lannisters must be extremely happy as they are going to mint a lot of money in the last 2 seasons.
