House of the Dragon showrunner Ryan Condal reflected on the Season 2 finale and hinted at what’s to come in Season 3, including the highly anticipated Battle of the Gullet. Get ready for the battle of a lifetime.
House of the Dragon’s Most Epic Showdown
Ryan Condal has revealed that the series is building up to Battle of the Gullet, a crucial event in the Fire & Blood storyline. According to Condal, the team wants to give this battle, the time and space it deserves to make it a memorable and exciting experience for fans. The battle will happen soon in the storyline, and Condal promises it will be the biggest and most impressive action sequence in House of the Dragon. The team is working hard to meet the fans’ high expectations. Showrunner Ryan Condal explained to Collider,
“We were trying to give the Gullet, which I would say is maybe the second most anticipated action event of Fire & Blood, trying to give it the time and the space that it deserves. Obviously, as anybody that’s seen the finale, we are building to that.
That event will happen very shortly in terms of the storytelling of House of the Dragon. It should be, I mean, based on what we know now, it should be the biggest thing to date that we’ve pulled off, and we just wanted to have the time and the space to do that at a level that is going to excite and satisfy the fans in the way it’s deserved”

Preview of Battle of Gullet
Ryan Condal seeks to build anticipation for the upcoming Battle of the Gullet, acknowledging that fans eagerly await new seasons every summer. However, he notes that the show’s complexity is equivalent to producing multiple feature films each season, requiring more time. Condal hints at a spectacular outcome, citing the success of Rook’s Rest and the Red Sowing as a testament to the team’s capabilities.
“And we also wanted to build some anticipation toward it. I know everybody wants this to come out every summer. It’s just that the show is so complex that we’re really making multiple feature films every season. So I apologize for the wait, but I will just say if Rook’s Rest and the Red Sowing are any indication, the team that we have together, we’re gonna pull off a hell of a win with the Battle of the Gullet in the future.”
