House of the Dragon’s Matt Smith returns to West End with ‘An Enemy of the People’
Being a part of three of the world’s most famous franchises says volumes about Matt Smith‘s acting talent. He’s seen it everything, whether it’s a Marvel villain in Morbius, a mystery Doctor Who from the past, or a shrewd Prince Daemon Targaryen in Game of Thrones precursor House of The Dragon. Smith will now be making a return to the stage in London’s famous West End theatre.
Matt Smith to star in English adaptation of ‘An Enemy of the People’
Smith will star in the first English-language version of German filmmaker Thomas Ostermeier’s adaptation of Henrik Ibsen’s play An Enemy of the People. Beginning on February 6, the performance will take place at the Duke of York’s Theatre for two months. Smith described it as a “unique project” and said it was “an honor” to collaborate with Ostermeier, via BBC news.
What is ‘An Enemy of the People’ about?
Smith will portray Doctor Thomas Stockmann, a medical official who discovers that the public baths are poisoned, in “An Enemy of the People.” In addition to requesting that the municipal council reroute the water lines, Stockmann wants to publish his discoveries in the media. However, he encounters criticism since the baths are essential to the success of his hometown spa town. When he won’t allow the truth to be suppressed, he is labeled as a public enemy.
