Kit Harington, Rose Leslie and Maisie Williams show off their unique fashion sense at 2021 Met Gala
Though Game of Thrones was mostly based on medieval history, many of its stars have a keen sense of fashion in real life. And they’re never afraid to flaunt their unique and amazing styles. This year’s Met Gala brought out some of show business’ most fashionable celebs – including a few Game of Thrones stars who turned up looking incredible.
Maisie Williams was the first to arrive on the red carpet, rocking a black, shimmering Thom Browne ensemble that slayed, with semi-sheer sleeves and leggings and shining black heels.
Later in the evening, two of Williams’ former co-stars, Kit Harington and Rose Leslie, hit the steps as one of the night’s biggest power couples. Rose beamed like a ray of sunshine in a brilliant, yellow gown that paired beautifully with Harington’s classic, dapper white tux. Rose was like the sun to Harrington’s moon.
This year’s Met Gala theme is “In America: A Lexicon of Fashion,” an exploration of the nation’s sartorial identity and a deep dive into American ingenuity. According to the press release, the exhibition opens on Sept. 18 and will highlight “everything from the luxe ease of Halston’s ’70s glamour to Rodarte’s ethereal edge and Kerby Jean-Raymond’s powerful political vision for Pyer Moss.”

Game of Thrones was inspired by medieval history, so was the architecture of the buildings used in the series. Very few such remnants of the past stand to this day, and there are even fewer that actually scream ‘Game of Thrones’. But what if you could own a house that could settle all your medieval fantasies? A medieval castle in Michigan looks something straight from George R. R. Martin’s books, and it’s up for sale.
A 10,790-square-foot masterpiece situated on more than six acres in the Detroit suburb of Rochester hit the market Tuesday, with an initial asking price of $2.29 million. “This is ‘Game of Thrones’ Season 9,” Nicholas Asplund of Lux Partners Global told MLive.com when asked about the massive, five-level home that required 60 tons of steel to erect the frame.
“The owner had a lot of money, and when he was building this home, he told the designers what he wanted, and they brought in people from all over, sourcing things from across the globe. They didn’t spare any expenses. It’s super solid and massive. I mean, it’s built out of stone and steel,” Asplund told the news outlet, calling the result a “straight-up medieval castle.”
Of course, there’s also a drawbridge – which you must cross to gain entry – as well as a moat, waterfall, portcullis, wine cellar, Tudor-style pub, an underground grotto with Jacuzzi, fitness centre, billiard room, library with a loft and a home theatre with an 8-by-6-foot screen, according to the listing.
One such Tennessee mansion with a secret Game of Thrones theatre was also up for sale a few days ago. Would you like to live in such a luxurious castle? Talk to us in the comments below!
Game of Thrones is undoubtedly one of the biggest shows to have ever filled. It is a pop culture icon, and finds it’s way into various other shows and movies. DC’s newest comic book series is a tribute to HBO’s fantasy epic; dedicated to Game of Thrones fans. After days of hinting at another big DC Comics series, Comic book writer Tom Taylor, finally gave fans some hints. “Dark Knights of Steel,” which he said, “is for the fans of Game of Thrones,” is his newest project.
Quick thread…
I’ve spent the last two years creating a new epic fantasy universe for @DCComics, and Dark Knights of Steel is an absolute dream come true.
I want to say a huge thanks to @Ben_Abernathy for making this happen along with #DCeased… pic.twitter.com/Jx7yduU2me— Tom Taylor (@TomTaylorMade) August 12, 2021
“I’ve spent the last two years creating a new epic fantasy universe for DC Comics, and Dark Knights of Steel is an absolute dream come true,” Taylor said about the series, per Entertainment Weekly. “Despite being the writer of the DC horror series, DCeased, I’m actually a huge a fantasy fan. Combining two of my favourite things, DC superheroes and high fantasy, is my absolute happy place. I grew up reading Lord of the Rings alongside Superman. Terry Pratchett alongside Garth Ennis. Robin Hobb and Mark Waid. Dragonlance and Justice League.”
“Now I get to bring all this together with the incredible Yasmine Putri, in the biggest story I could imagine. A tale of war and love, of despair and hope, of betrayal and improbable alliances forged in battle.”
“… (this series) is for the fans of shows like Game of Thrones and Critical Role. This is for the kids who took dice to school, who chose their own adventure, and dreamed of flying in a cape.”

More news keeps pouring in for Game of Thrones lovers as the prequel House of The Dragon is fast on track for its release in 2022. The recent developments taking place at various filming sites indicate the show might be here sooner than we expected. Speculations arose this weekend that filming for the Game of Thrones prequel has returned to Cornwall after a number of medieval-style props were spotted on the Lizard Peninsula beach on Friday.
Photos were posted to the ‘Cornwall_in_Focus’ Facebook page, showing an array of different swords, shields and other weaponry, as well as barrels, wooden crates and Hessian sacks laid out on the cliffs above one of Cornwall’s most popular beauty spots.
Earlier this year, back in April, former Doctor Who star Matt Smith was among the actors photographed at Holywell Bay, one of the confirmed locations for the filming of the new series that is based on George R. R. Martin’s book Fire & Blood.
The author behind the Cornwall_in_Focus page wrote: “Looks like they’re back to filming Game of Thrones again. This time down Kynance Cove.”
“I was lucky enough to be able to walk right through the set today, although I suspect it’ll be closed off to the public very soon, but was amazing to see the props up close, the detail that goes into these kinds of things is insane.”
