Game of Thrones prequel House of The Dragon is on its way, and we might get more glimpses of the highly awaited series very soon. Fans have huge expectations from the show, as HBO is leaving no stones unturned to make the series another great hit. However, after the shocking finale of Game of Thrones, people have varied opinions. Some find it difficult to believe House of The Dragon has the potential to be as good as Game of Thrones. Others feel the prequel might just be the next big thing on TV. And then there’s Game of Thrones star Kit Harington, who says it would be painful to watch the Game of Thrones prequel.

In an interview with Insider, the actor explained, “There’s emotion connected to that for me. I think to see people get into outfits and costumes, that resemble what we wore for all those years, and it [has] the same music and style and tone, but not be in it is always going to feel — There’s going to be a rawness there.”

“Of course, I’m going to watch it and I’m going to support [co-showrunner] Miguel [Sapochnik], who’s helming the show,” Harington added. “I wish them all the best, but it’s so close to my heart, that story, that, of course, there might be a bit of pain there.”

Game of Thrones was an epic fantasy, there’s no doubt about it. There’s yet to be another show that has come close to the quality and popularity that George R. R. Martin’s creation achieved, but the future is looking bright and we have several contenders. One of them is Amazon’s The Wheel of Time, which is itself an adaptation of Robert Jordan’s 14-book series. The showrunner, Rafe Judkins, is aware of the comparison being made with Game of Thrones, but he’s looking hopeful.

In a recent GQ story, Judkins revealed that he sought advice for creating an epic fantasy series that did the books justice, stood on its own as an attractive new big-budget series for average audiences, and carved its own unique niche in a crowded fantasy entertainment space.

“Just do what you’re going to do, the Game of Thrones duo advised him, per the outlet. “You know what this is. You have to believe in it. These kinds of things have to have an extraordinary clarity of vision to work.”

The pressure on The Wheel of Time is immense, especially because of its comparison with Game of Thrones. Game of Thrones proved to be a huge success, a worldwide phenomenon that broke all records, and one of the best TV adaptations of a novel series.

But after a highly controversial final season, do you think Judkins did the right thing by turning to D & D for advice? Talk to us in the comments below!

Game of Thrones stars are a close knit bunch. Many of them are close friends in real life, like former on-screen brothers Richard Madden and Kit Harington, who played Robb Stark and Jon Snow respectively on the show. Hence it must come as no surprise that the two cherish any opportunity they get to work together. In this case, it was Marvel Cinematic Universe’s latest phase 4 film Eternals.

Though Madden was thrilled to be a part of the project, and getting to work with Kit once again, he was sad about not sharing much screen-time with him. He told Entertainment Weekly in a recent interview:

Just great. I mean, I’ve been friends with Kit for many, many years, and sadly we don’t get to do a lot in the film together. But I get to have one moment with him where we say hello, and it’s nice to be on set with someone you know and trust and have known for a long time. On set, it was kind of like hanging out with your friends, and then it’s like, ‘Oh, right, we’ve got to do acting now? Okay.’”

When Madden was asked why Eternals and his character of Ikaris appealed to him, the actor said:

For me, it was the fascination of when you’ve got a character that’s thousands and thousands of years old, what is it about them that makes them want to keep living? What is it about the world around them that they find joy in?”

Game of Thrones prequel House of The Dragon is a hot topic over all the social media platforms, as periodic leaks cause waves of reactions and excitement amongst curious fans. The teaser trailer received a largely positive response from the audience, and fans are expecting a lot from the upcoming Game of Thrones prequel. The series’ co-showrunner Miguel Sapochnik, who has also worked on the original show, explains how his job has changed since his Game of Thrones days.

During a Hollywood Reporter interview about his upcoming postapocalyptic Apple movie Finch, he said, “It’s a lot of work,” Sapochnik said. “It’s a pretty interesting shift. I’m producing other directors and getting involved in a lot of the minutiae. Directing feels really simple by comparison. I feel vaguely elated on my directing days because I don’t have to think about anything other than directing. I’ve also learned, as I learned on Finch, that it’s becoming more and more important to me as I’m getting older to work with people I like.”

“The journey is the destination and if you can’t enjoy the journey, then the destination has so much less meaning. I’ve got a group of filmmakers on House of the Dragon I have a lot of fun working with. I’ve never had that level of repeat business of working with the same people again and again. The way I work with [GoT veterans] Fabian Wagner, my DP, and Tim Porter, my editor, we have fun and make jokes and we never used to have that. I can’t tell you how important that is. Because there’s not a lot of funny stuff going on in the world of Thrones, so it’s quite nice to spend time with people you enjoy spending time with.”

Warriors coach Steve Kerr compares himself to Game of Thrones’ Arya Stark

Warriors coach Steve Kerr compares himself to Game of Thrones’ Arya Stark

The success of Game of Thrones over the past decade has turned it into a pop culture icon. It always finds its way being referenced in several other spheres. For example, we often find politicians comparing the affairs of the state with HBO’s highly acclaimed TV show. However, recently the show was mentioned in a completely different area of work, in the world of sports. The Warriors basketball team’s head coach, Steve Kerr, is pretty impressed with the performance of his players. And he compared himself to Game of Thrones’ Arya Stark.

In a post-match press conference, Steve Kerr quoted, “I’m like Arya from Game of Thrones. I have all the names of the media members who picked us to be outside the playoffs, and I’m just checking off the box.”

The Warriors are off to a 10-1 start — the best record in the league. They have the best net rating (by a couple of points), the top-ranked defense, and Stephen Curry playing like an MVP. That’s faster than even Warriors’ optimists had them coming out of the gate — and most pundits had the Warriors lower than that (for the record, I picked them fifth in the West). Some had the Warriors out of the playoffs altogether. Steve Kerr said he noticed and made an Arya Stark from Game of Thrones list of media members who underestimated the Warriors.

Do you agree with Kerr’s comparison? Talk to us in the comments below!

Game of Thrones prequel House of The Dragon is fast on track for its release in 2022. The production hit a little snag recently after a positive COVID-19 case was detected, but since then it has been back to normal. Fans are highly excited about the upcoming series but they do have concerns if it will be as good as the original series, especially after the controversial final season.

Actor Matt Smith, who is set to play the Rogue Prince Daemon Targaryen in the prequel show, thinks it won’t be possible for House of The Dragon to reach the same heights of popularity and fame as Game of Thrones, as the latter was one of a kind and a decade-defining phenomenon.

During an interview with CNET promoting his new film Last Night in Soho, Smith talked about the aspect of the show they always have to keep in mind, that is, the comparison with its predecessor, Game of Thrones. He said:

“I suppose that paint is your sort of attitude you bring in and see what sticks. We’re trying to make a show that’s entertaining on lots of different levels and has a similar scope and ambition to the previous show, in many respects. But obviously, you’re never going to be able to re-create the success of Game of Thrones, because that was a very particular point in time. It was its own unique entity.

What do you think about House of The Dragon? Will it be as good as Game of Thrones? Talk to us in the comments below!

The production for Game of Thrones prequel House of the Dragon is in full swing. We’re receiving updates about the filming currently going on in the Portuguese city of stone, Monsanto, via leaks that are reported every other day. Former Doctor Who Matt Smith is playing the role of Prince Daemon Targaryen on the show, one of the key players in the story of House of The Dragon. And his dragon, Caraxes, is going to be one of the meanest, biggest, and baddest beasts in the series.

Smith, in his recent appearance on the Happy Sad Confused podcast, talked about various aspects of the Game of Thrones prequel, including Daemon’s dragon Caraxes. This is how he described him:

“Caraxes is pretty good, y’know? He’s big and red and angry. He’s a really angry dragon. Mine’s the angriest of all the dragons. There is no angrier dragon than Caraxes. He’s a real moody bastard.”
