“I was very upset and I had to go for a walk” says Gwendoline Christie on Jaime leaving Brienne to go South

Game of Thrones Season 8 episode 4 “The Last of the Starks” finally saw the fandom’s biggest ship consummate their love. Jaime and Brienne made love, and in the same episode, we saw Jaime leave Brienne to go south for Cersei. In an interview with EW, Gwendoline Christie, who plays Brienne, revealed her feelings about the whole thing. Read on!

Speaking of the build-up to them getting together, Gwendoline said:

“It was very important to me that we saw Jaime and Brienne’s relationship expressed throughout the battle. They’re in a rare situation where they can completely trust and depend on each other. You take a complicated and solid relationship into a brutal and mind-blowing apocalyptic war. Does it break them apart or force them closer together? You take that relationship and put it into the highest stakes possible and it gets stronger and they worked together completely.”

Speaking of her reaction to their lovemaking scene when she first read the script, she said:

“What’s always important to me is the “how.” Not the “what,” it’s the “how.” It’s important to me how these things come about. I felt it was important to see a moment of choice from Brienne where she chooses to do this. Brienne is a virgin. As far as we know, Brienne hasn’t had a sexual or romantic encounter before. In the books, the character sleeps in her armor to protect herself. It’s important that she choose to explore life in that way and have that experience. I was pleased that if something happens between her and another character that she wants it. I like that she instigated it. As an unconventional woman that we’ve seen grown, I enjoy that she decided to grow in a different way.”

She also revealed Nikolaj Coster-Waldau’s reaction to the script:

“I received a text from [Jaime actor Nikolaj Coster-Waldau] just laughing. I sent back a being sick emoji. How modern.”

Apparently, Nikolaj also told her to not laugh during the scene, and the two had to try hard to stay serious. Moving on, she talked about how she felt about Jaime leaving Brienne to go south:

“I was so upset for her. I know it’s just a character and I’m an actor who’s lucky to do her job. It’s so heartbreaking. But it’s life isn’t it? Life is heartbreaking. I never assumed they would be together. I didn’t think that would happen. And now I can feel a million hearts breaking.”

She continued:

“I have no judgment of Cersei but their relationship is dysfunctional. That’s when I went very red. I was very upset and I had to go for a walk.”

Gwendoline also said it bothered her more than them actually getting together in the first place:

“I know it’s silly. It’s just a character, not a living human being, but I feel for her so deeply. I love that she doesn’t crumble from it. She goes back to work. Because she always loves work — that feels refreshing, a woman can be happy without a companion. Woman don’t have to be defined by their partner and that’s good. But my god. That’s the Game of Thrones, isn’t it? Just when you think things are going to go well it punches you harder than ever in the guts…”

Well, that is true. What did you think about Jaime and Brienne in this episode? Talk to us in the comments, down below?

Real-life is often different from reel life. The celebrities we idolize often face regular problems like normal people. We might want a life like theirs, but ignore the struggles they had to face. For example, Game of Thrones macho man Jason Momoa. Though he appears fearsome as Khal Drogo and majestic as Aquaman on-screen, he’s completely different in real life. The 41-year-old actor recently opened up about his life off-screen in an interview with Men’s Health magazine.

The Game of Thrones star revealed, “I may look big and tough, but I’m not. I’m nothing like Khal Drogo. I’m not even the king of my own house! I’m absolutely terrified of my wife.”

Momoa loves his family. He said, “We’ve all gotten so much closer. My wife is very sophisticated and smart and our kids and I are kind of like animals that need to be trained a little better. I’m constantly a work in progress, and I’ve just been trying to get better as a father and a husband.”

Jason has been through a lot, without letting anyone know about his troubles. He recently revealed in an interview how his family was facing financial troubles after Game of Thrones. It is tough to imagine someone as popular as he went broke. Things got better for him after the Justice League.

Game of Thrones achieved great success and popularity in the past decade. The show set the bar for television series in terms of its story, scenery, CGI and battle scenes. However, it was also famous for another reason, a collection of well-built, tight and ripped bodies on-set. They caused awe amongst the audience, even encouraging them to get their own set of 6-pack-abs. Game of Thrones’ handsome hunk Jason Momoa, shared his secrets to a fit body with Men’s Health magazine.

The 41-year-old actor revealed his workout regime in an interview with the renowned magazine. However, he was terrified of doing Yoga. He said,  “So I tried yoga the other day, and it was the hardest thing I’ve ever done in my life. I’d rather squat a car. Climbing El Capitan would be easier than doing two hours of yoga. I can’t bend over anymore! My hamstrings are so tight. It’s pathetic.”

Momoa added, “I was in a yoga class with these older ladies in Topanga and everyone was just holding their arms up and I was like, ‘This is so hard!’”.

He also talked about his love for outdoor activities, “I rock climb a lot. Maybe I’m an ape. I love the way it feels. I like being upside down. I always loved climbing trees as a kid and swinging in the breeze.”

Momoa had revealed how his family was facing financial troubles in an interview earlier. What do you think of Momoa’s regime? Tell us in the comments below!

It is always fun to see our favourite actors play out radically different roles. Iain Glenn, who played the honourable and heroic Ser Jorah Mormont, was seen playing a not-so-heroic role in The Racer.

Directed by Kieron J Walsh, the movie circles around a series of scandals that took place at the 1998 Tour de France. The film was the opening film for the Cork International Film Festival. Though fictional, The Racer shows the dangerous lengths teams will go to for a competitive edge. Iain Glen plays the team’s Mr Fixit with the syringes and vials.

Iain Glenn talked to the Irish Examiner about the movie, “I studied documentaries and a couple of films just to get to know the world it occupied. What drew me to the script was it didn’t hold back its punches. I thought it was a very frank and honest, quite a wry, insightful look at a particularly bad period for drug abuse within the sport.”

He continued, “That tour became known as the Tour de Drugs because of the amount of drugs that were going down at the time. The people within the team and my character, certainly within the context of the film, didn’t have any great qualms about it – everyone was doing it and we were doing it as well. That was the norm. It’s ironic to think that (Lance) Armstrong was about to enjoy his great stretch as being the world-leading cyclist and he won so many tours in a row and this was prior to that. During Armstrong’s time, everyone thought the sport had got its act together a bit more.”

Earlier, Kit Harington was seen playing a shady role in Criminals Season 2. What do you think about the movie? Tell us in the comments below!
