George R.R. Martin reveals Jason Momoa’s love-making scene in the scrapped pilot was derailed by an ‘excited’ horse
Game of Thrones writer George R.R. Martin is undoubtedly one of the best storytellers the world has ever seen. His books are loved far and wide for his unique style. The author is now entertaining the fans in a different way, this time with behind the set stories from the show’s canceled pilot.
An excerpt from the much-awaited book Fire cannot kill a Dragon, written by Entertainment Weekly editor James Hibberd shows details of interviews with various cast and crew members of the show (they revealed how awful the pilot was). George R.R. Martin revealed some interesting and hilarious details about scenes involving Khal Drogo and Daenerys.
According to the writer, the wedding night scene where Daenerys (Emilia Clarke) is raped by Khal Drogo (Jason Momoa) is not in his books. It was a seduction scene in the book as well as the show’s scrapped pilot, with Tamzin Merchant as Daenerys. Though the love-making scene was derailed by an excited horse.
He explained, “So we’re by this little brook. They tied the horses to the trees and there’s a seduction scene by the stream. Jason Momoa and Tamzin are naked and “having sex.” And suddenly the video guy starts to laugh. The silver filly was not a filly at all. It was a colt. And it was getting visibly excited by watching these two humans. There’s this horse in the background with this enormous horse schlong. So that didn’t go well either.”
The silver filly he is talking about here was a wedding gift from Drogo to Daenerys. Drogo was also more considerate towards Dany and it was a faithful version of the original story.
