Game of Thrones showrunners team up with Amanda Peet for new Netflix Dramedy Series starring Sandra Oh
The constant buzz around Game of Thrones since its inception has meant more eyeballs and immense scrutiny. It has also brought upon the same attention to its cast and crew members. Since the telecast of the show is done and most of us are dried up talking about the merit/demerit of season 8, any news about the cast and crew draws us to it. The latest buzz in the market comes straight from Netflix, a new junction for the Game of Thrones creators David Benioff and D.B. Weiss after their Netflix deal.
Netflix has announced a new six-episode dramedy, The Chair, that stars Sandra Oh as its lead and an executive producer. It’s about the Chair (head) of the English Department at a major university. Amanda Peet (Benioff’s wife) will write the series and also act as showrunner and executive producer. The duo of David Benioff and D.B. Weiss will too act as executive producers on the show along with Bernie Caulfied. Moreover, it stars Jay Duplass alongside Sandra. Annie Julia Wymann has co-written the pilot with Peet.
Sandra Oh comes fresh off the success of her BBC America spy thriller series, Killing Eve, for which she recently won a Golden Globe award for Best Actress. The Canadian-American actress is the only woman of Asian descent to win two Golden Globe awards, the other coming for her work in Grey’s Anatomy. Oh is a veteran actress having received a heap of praise from critics and the audience for her performances in films and TV over the last two decades. Killing Eve’s third season premieres on BBC America in April 2020. And it’s been picked up for a fourth season.
It’s a first for Amanda Peet in terms of a writer and showrunner of a TV show. She has previously penned and produced two plays; The Commons of Pensacola for The Manhattan Theatre Club and Our Very Own Carlin McCullough for The Geffen Playhouse. Peet’s acting exploits have been most apparent though, with an array of films and shows like Brockmire, and Togetherness; which was primarily written and directed by Jay Duplass and his brother, Mark.
The creators of Game of Thrones are walking further in their association with Netflix. It’s the first full-fledged show that David Benioff and D.B. Weiss will produce for the streaming giant. They had recently directed a Netflix Comedy Special for Leslie Jones.
So, the new show looks full of promise in terms of the talent on board. We hope they create something special. What do you guys think about it? Tell us in the comments.
The first month of the year 2021 is about to reach its end. People all over the world are trying hard to keep their hopes alive after the dreadful Red Wedding year 2020. Game of Thrones fans have a lot to look forward to. The epic fantasy kept them hooked for nearly a decade. The viewers are highly excited for the prequel to the TV show, House of The Dragon. HBO has confirmed the series by releasing a teaser in their upcoming movies and shows line-up. Seems like the television giant is keen on exploring the Game of Thrones universe even more. There are rumours of another prequel in the early development stage at HBO.
A series adaptation of Tales of Dunk and Egg, a prequel to the events of Game of Thrones, is in early development at HBO, Variety has learned exclusively from sources. The one-hour show would be based on the series of George R. R. Martin’s fantasy novellas. The story follows the adventures of Ser Duncan the Tall (Dunk) and a young Aegon V Targaryen (Egg) 90 years prior to the events of A Song of Ice and Fire.
EW is also saying that HBO is considering several other settings for Thrones spin-offs, like Robert’s Rebellion.
Tales of Dunk and Egg contains three novellas in the series to date: The Hedge Knight in 1998, The Sworn Sword in 2003, and The Mystery Knight in 2010. No writer or talent is currently assigned to the project as of yet.

The 21st century has witnessed an unprecedented rise in science and technology. These advances have helped bring fantasy to life. The last decade saw the bar for quality TV shows getting raised to never-before-seen heights. Game of Thrones played a major role in raising that bar even higher. Scientists have researched the show’s incredible success, relating it to real life. The fantasy epic still holds the record for most Emmy awards won. Once again the series proved that it still rules the heart of the audience. Game of Thrones was voted as the Greatest TV Show of 21st century by Digital Spy readers.
Digital Spy shortlisted 150 shows for their readers, and they voted for their favourite shows. The shows were curated from viewing figures, popularity ratings, newsworthiness and online presence. As expected the cream rose to the top. Game of Thrones was favourited by the most number of voters, showing off its popularity even after it ended more than a year ago.
The list also included other famous shows like Breaking Bad and Peaky Blinders from the past two decades. Despite the controversial final season, the series seems to have maintained its fan base. It’s a big win for Game of Thrones fans from all over the world!

The New Year brings with it new hopes and opportunities for everyone around the world. People all over the world are trying to get back on their feet after everything that happened in the Red Wedding year. Many are trying to get a fresh start, including some of Game of Thrones stars. Emilia Clarke, famous for playing Daenerys Targaryen, recently sold off her lavish California home at $4.4 million.
The modern home in Los Angeles’ artsy beachside Venice neighbourhood was truly a fit for the Queen of Dragons. The 2,817-square-foot home was built in 2009. It includes two bedrooms and three full bathrooms.
The gated property features a courtyard with a 30-foot pool and multiple areas for lounging, including a covered space. The front patio has 80-year-old olive trees. The 0.12-acre property offers privacy behind its walls and mature greenery. It is also conveniently close to the beach and hip shopping and dining around the corner on Abbot Kinney Boulevard.
Clarke paid $4.6 million for the property in 2016, records show. She put it on the market for just under $5 million in August. It sold just before the end of the year after a price cut in November.
This might indicate Emilia plans to stay in England permanently. Earlier in 2020, Maisie Williams expressed her desire to move to France with her boyfriend. Do you have any such plans? Talk to us in the comments below!
