Game of Thrones Season 7 trailer might have a tiny detail that hints at Cersei Lannister's fate

Game of Thrones has been gone for a while now, and the anticipation for Season 7 is at an all time high. Season 7 will premiere later than usual, with the premiere date set on the 16th of July. In the meantime, HBO has been making up for the delay by giving us a constant stream of official material, the biggest of which, was the Game of Thrones Season 7 trailer. As we recently reported, the trailer crossed over 61 million views across all platforms, within the first 24 hours, and got some hilarious reactions, too. However, there was one little sneaky Easter egg that we all missed. Read on!

A recent report by Variety pointed out the detail, originally posted onto Reddit. Before reading further, just in case you haven’t watched the trailer yet, check it out, here.

So, as most of you will be knowing, there is a prominent theory about Cersei Lannister‘s death, that has been getting a lot of attention, lately. The theory comes from a prophecy by Maggy the Frog, who talks to a young Cersei about her future. On the TV show, back in the Season 5 premiere of the show, the prophecy just tells her that she will become the queen, her kids will die, and that a younger queen will some day replace her. Two out of those three things have happened. Now, Maggy talks more about Cersei’s future, in the book, A Feast for Crows, which wasn’t shown in the TV series. She says:

“When your tears have drowned you, the valonqar shall wrap his hands about your pale white throat and choke the life from you.”

“Valonqar” means “little brother,” in High Valyrian, implying that a sibling might kill Cersei. We have our bets on Jaime Lannister, especially with the look he shared with Cersei, at the end of last season. Now, we already deduced a nod to the theory from the showrunners, but it seems like the Season 7 trailer sneaked in another. We’re talking about the scene where Cersei and Jaime Lannister are standing on the giant map of Westeros. Check it out, below:

Now, look at where the two are standing. Cersei is standing on the region of Westeros which is called “The Neck“, because it is kind of a neck of the hourglass region separating Westeros into two landmasses. If that didn’t seem symbolic enough, Jaime is standing near the part of the map called “The Fingers,” again, called so because of the shape of the region. So basically, Cersei is at the neck, and Jaime is at the fingers, which seems pretty obvious to us.

Now, we’re not sure whether it’s actually HBO hinting at the theory, or whether we’re reading way too much into it. What do you think? Tell us in the comments, down below!
