Game of Thrones Season 7 Premiere in LA has confirmed the return of a long lost character

Last night Game of Thrones had it’s season 7 premiere in LA at the Walt Disney Concert Hall in Los Angeles and at the blue carpet (it was blue and not red coz Winter is here), we got to see almost the entire cast of the show and many people noticed that there was a particular cast member who has been MIA since the last few years.

Yes, we are talking about Joe Dempsie, who plays the role of Gendry on Game of Thrones. We last saw Gendry way back in Game of Thrones Season 3, when he started rowing and it seems that he has finally stopped rowing after all these years. At the event, Joe confirmed that his character was going to return in the upcoming season and he was really excited about it. Speaking with the LA Times, he said, “Very fortunately from what I’ve seen, it’s been nothing but interest and excitement and some quite witty memes.”

Even GQ confirmed that Gendry is going to make a comeback and this is what they had to say. “Joe Dempsie was at the premiere and GQ can confirm his character is back in season seven, although you’ll have to wait until mid-way through to find out the significance of his role.”

So looking at the news that is coming out after the LA premiere of Game of Thrones Season 7, we can now safely confirm that Gendry is going to return in Season 7 and he has an important role to play. It will be interesting to see how his storyline moves ahead now that the series is in it’s final stretch. There were speculations way back in 2016, when Joe Dempsie was spotted at the Belfast airport while shooting for season 7 was going on.

Also, many people have suggested that Gendry has already appeared in the Game of Thrones Season 7 trailer. Take a look at the photo below and you can see the circled character has a war hammer in his hand and it’s possible Gendry might use one just like his father did.

Game of Thrones Season 7 is going to premiere on Sun 16th July on HBO in USA, and on Monday, July 17 on Sky Atlantic in the UK and Hotstar in India.
