Sophie Turner, best known for her role as Sansa Stark in Game of Thrones will be starring as the main lead in an upcoming Drama TV series, ‘Joan.’ The TV series is said to be about a real-life jewel thief Joan Hannington. So let’s take a detailed look at the upcoming Drama TV series!
What will ‘Joan’ be about?
According to Deadline, the drama series is set in the 1980s, where Joan (Sophie Turner) is a young woman in her twenties and is married to a violent thug. She’s also a mother to her four-year-old daughter. When her husband goes on the run, she seizes her chance to leave behind her old life along with her daughter. The show will show her story as a housewife and mother to the diamond thief and one of London’s most notorious female criminals.
“I’m so excited to be bringing Joan Hannington’s fascinating life story to screen in Joan,” Turner previously said of the new casting.
Who has been cast in the Drama TV series ‘Joan’?
Sophie Turner will play the lead role of Joan Hannington, while Frank Dillane will take on the role of Boisie Hannington, Kirsty J. Curtis will be playing Nancy, Joan’s older sister and a salon worker, Gershwyn Eustache Jnr will play Albie, an old acquaintance of Boisie who has started a new life in Spain with his wife Val, whose character will be played by Laura Aikman.
Along with them, other actors joining the series include Nick Blood, Jack Greenlees, Alex Blake, Caroline Faber, and Dorothy Atkinson.
When is ‘Joan’ releasing?
While we’re not sure about the release date for the TV series, ITVX where the show will be streaming has announced that production is currently underway for the show. The show has started filming in Herne Bay, Kent and the filming will continue in other areas too. It seems like the TV show could be scheduled for early 2024 release.
