Arya Stark’s Catspaw dagger possibly spotted in House of the Dragon Season 2 featurette: Aemond to wield the iconic weapon?
The fact that House of the Dragon shares aspects with Game of Thrones while remaining a stand-alone program is one of its greatest qualities. Aegon the Conqueror’s dagger, which Arya used to kill the Night King in Game of Thrones, is one of the most important and maybe most famous props on the show. It plays a significant role in House of the Dragon as well, and a new tease might’ve spoiled a plot storyline.
House of the Dragon featurette shows Aemond carrying the Catspaw
HBO recently released a new fun clip in which the cast of House of the Dragon is asked – Who gives less f*cks: Daemon or Aemond? While they answer the question, one clip quickly slips by which shows Aemon walking through a burning forest very quickly holding the dagger.
What does Aemond carrying the Catspaw really mean?
Aemond holding the dagger hints at a major plot point in House of the Dragon Season 2. The Catspaw is traditionally a symbol of the King, passed down from Aegon the Conqueror love generations. Aegon II also had it with him during his coronation.
Spoiler Alert: The Battle of Rook’s Rest is one of the two big battles that will be shown in Season 2. During the battle, Aegon will be seriously injured along with his dragon in a fight with Meleys and Rhaenys. He will then pass on the dagger to Aemond, to rule in his stead as the regent, as he recuperates from his wounds that leave him crippled for life.
