Coronavirus has spread throughout the world faster than any other known disease in recent times. Although the mortality is not very high, its huge transmission rate is alarming! With each passing day, it’s becoming more and more difficult for governments to contain the sheer impact of the numbers. During these testing times, people from all walks of life are chipping in with their helpful donations. These are going to the relief funds so as to help make more space for coronavirus patients. Amidst this, Game of Thrones star Emilia Clarke (Daenerys Targaryen) has made an appeal to her followers on Instagram. It’s an appeal to donate to her charity SameYou’s COVID-19 relief fund. And as a token of gratitude, she will have a virtual-dinner with twelve of those donors, selected randomly.

Emilia shared a video message on Instagram. She asked for people’s help to raise a sum of £250,000 for SameYou’s COVID-19 relief fund. But there is an attached value in the help, apart from the blessings of those in distress. “When you donate, you can click on a link, and that will be a randomized process. And twelve lucky people will join me virtually. We’re going to put together a store cupboard dinner. We’ll cook it and eat it together. And we’ll discuss lots of things; isolation, fear, and funny videos, and the fact that I can’t really cook. So, it’s going to be fun, it’s gonna be interesting,” Emilia said.

As you might recall, SameYou is Emilia’s organization that helps in the rehab of people who recover from brain injuries. She talked about how SameYou’s relief fund will help the patients of COVID-19 and those with brain injuries as well. “We have to create more beds for the NHS (National Health Service) to take care of COVID-19 sufferers. And when you’re doing that, the brain injury survivors are leaving the hospital early, as we all have to do at this time. So, they need somewhere to go. With our partners in America, Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital and our partners in England, UCL, we’re creating a virtual rehab clinic; so that brain injury survivors have somewhere to go, somewhere to feel safe, not alone and isolated.”

Game of Thrones stars have been infected too, with Kristofer Hivju (Tormund) testing positive, followed by Indira Varma (Ellaria Sand) who actually performed with Emilia Clarke on-stage days before testing positive.

Clarke founded SameYou as part of her own journey after recovering from two brain aneurysms during the early years of Game of Thrones. It’s a good thing that her charity is doing for the patients and healthcare workers during these times of global crisis; plus there’s the dinner with the mother of dragons. So, it’s a package deal then! Go on and donate if you can.
