“No one even knew I spoke English,” says Jason Momoa about struggling after Game of Thrones
Game of Thrones is the kind of show that is an up and coming actor’s dream job. Many of the actors on the show have validated this opinion, and here is no doubt that all of them have benefited from their time on the show. However, there have been certain struggles attached to it, as well. Jason Momoa, who played Khal Drogo, and is arguably the most loved star from the cast of Thrones, recently revealed his struggles after leaving the show. Read on!
In a recent interview with Esquire, Momoa discussed how things were like for him after he left Game of Thrones. Apparently he was put in a corner because of the kind of character that Drogo was:
“I mean, where do you put Drogo? He’s not going in a rom-com. No one even knew I spoke English.”
While Momoa had been acting for a while, Game of Thrones was his big break. He said:
“I’m not known for my acting. I’m known for action. I don’t say a lot of things or use big sentences.”
He reflected on his earlier days in the industry, working on Baywatch:
“I fell in love with the art of acting. But no one took me seriously. Baywatch isn’t known for its . . . quality of acting. I couldn’t get an agent to save my life.”
Momoa’s latest project was Dune, on which he worked alongside Timothée Chalamet, who he thinks is very talented:
“He’s so fucking talented, man. I don’t know. I’m a little dumber, needed some time. Which is probably the best for me, because it would have been bad if it happened when I was younger. I just would have fucked it all up.”
Well, we’re grateful that Jason is doing well now, and there’s no doubt he’s one of the most loved and in-demand actors in the industry. What do you guys think? Talk to us in the comments, down below!
