Game of Thrones is one of the most popular shows on the planet, and as such it generates a giant amount of buzz, especially when a Season is airing. Now, as you know, Game of Thrones Season 7 aired earlier this year, and the next big release after it was the second season of Netflix’s Stranger Things, which is quite a popular show right now, and can be counted in the same bracket as Game of Thrones when it comes to fine television. Apparently the space left by the fading buzz of Game of Thrones Season 7 has been filled up quite nicely by Stranger Things 2, says a new report by 4C Insights, a media science and data technology firm.
This report by 4C Insights, which was broken down by Advanced Television, studies data from social media platforms like Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram, shows that Stranger Things 2 got about three quarters of a million engagements from all over the web. It had a quite a jump too, going from 148,063 engangements from the night before the season debuted (October 26) to 750,409 on the day of the release, as opposed to Game of Thrones’ 1,114,152 engagements on Season 7 premiere back in July.
Positive response for Stranger Things 2 was 68%, which is almost the same as what Game of Thrones Season 7 had. The number of engagements fell back to 181,749 two days post release, while positive response rose to 72%. The figures aren’t really comparable, considering Netflix releases the whole season at once, while HBO is conventional TV, with weekly rollout, but considering this, Stranger Things did a great job matching up to Game of Thrones, which is even more commendable when you think about the fact that the show is only on Season 2.
