HBO releases House of the Dragon teaser trailer

We finally have the first footage from the upcoming Game of Thrones prequel, House of the Dragon. The teaser was released by HBO at the end of the HBO Max European launch event and it features a voiceover by Matt Smith who plays the role of Prince Daemon Targaryen.

“Gods. Kings. Fire and Blood. Dreams didn’t make us king … Dragons did.” *GOOSEBUMPS*

One of the best parts of the trailer was the scene that featured the Great Hall in the Red Keep. In the Game of Thrones prequel, we will get to see a new Iron Throne, one that is kind of close to what George R.R. Martin imagined it to look like when he wrote the books. Here’s the most accurate depiction of the Iron Throne according to George R.R. Martin. Also, looking at the scene, it does feel that the Iron Throne is made of the thousand blades of Aegon’s fallen enemies.

We get to see the Iron Throne in another scene from the teaser trailer but we had to zoom in to get a proper look at the Iron Throne.

In Game of Thrones TV series, the Iron Throne didn’t actually have 1000 swords and during the famous “Chaos is a ladder” scene Littlefinger tells Lord Varys that there aren’t even 200 swords in the Iron Throne.

The day before yesterday we had reported that we could expect the House of the Dragon teaser trailer to arrive in 2 weeks and that the full trailer will be released 1 week before Christmas.

Here’s the new description for House of the Dragon that was updated a few days ago:

“Based on George R.R. Martin’s “Fire & Blood,” the series, which is set 200 years before the events of Game of Thrones, tells the story of House Targaryen.”

There were several memorable villainous characters in Game of Thrones, but few were as influential and admirable as Charles Dance’s Tywin Lannister. His mere presence on the screen dictated seriousness, and the audience knew he meant business. Dance will be once again seen in a villainous role, in Netflix’s adaptation of Neil Gaiman’s DC comic Sandman. And he looks quite menacing in the trailer itself, have a look:

In the teaser trailer released recently by Netflix, Dance cunningly lures and kidnaps Morpheus, the cosmic being who is an embodiment of all the dreams in the universe. Dance plays Roderick Burgess who is a charlatan, blackmailer and magician, and the show’s protagonist Dream is portrayed by Tom Sturridge.

Dance’s Game of Thrones co-star is also playing an important role in the series. Gwendoline Christie will play a female version of Lucifer, Queen of Hell.

Netflix’s official synopsis for The Sandman reads: “A rich blend of modern myth and dark fantasy in which contemporary fiction, historical drama, and legend are seamlessly interwoven, ‘The Sandman’ follows the people and places affected by Morpheus, the Dream King, as he mends the cosmic — and human — mistakes he’s made during his vast existence.”

Game of Thrones prequel House of The Dragon is fast on track for its release in 2022. The shooting is moving forward at a really fast pace, and HBO has managed to stay rather secretive about it. However, there are some pictures from the shoot that are leaked into the public from time to time, that provide a glimpse of the progress they are making every day. Recently, one of the pictures that was posted accidentally by one of the crew members revealed the interior design of the famed Red Keep, as reported by Watchers on the Wall.

A picture that was posted on the private Instagram account of Stephen Weightman, a key grip, and later reposted by camerarevolution showed various shooting equipment lined up inside a hall that appeared to be similar to Red Keep from Game of Thrones.

At first glance, the picture looks like the inside of the Red Keep. It may be the throne room where King Viserys I Targaryen (Paddy Considine) sits on the Iron Throne. It is hard to tell for sure since the camera angle doesn’t show us much of anything.

The most interesting detail is definitely the dragon-themed torch affixed to the wall. It can also be a sea horse, the emblem of House Velaryon, if the picture is from Driftmark. When the Targaryens were ruling the place, they had dragon-related stuff everywhere. They lined the throne room with the skulls of the dead dragons who had served their family before. When Robert Baratheon took over, he got rid of many Targaryen relics, since he had a deep hatred for the family. But way back then, things were different.
