Fans freak out after cryptic tweet from official Game of Thrones account

Game of Thrones might be over, but the fandom is alive and kicking. The latest buzz was about the alternate ending to the show that HBO shot, as revealed by Kristofer Hivju (Tormund), followed by Dean Charles Chapman (Tommen) saying that it should be released. Now, a cryptic tweet by the official Game of Thrones Twitter account has sent the fans in a frenzy. Read on!

The official Game of Thrones Twitter account tweeted out a random “Winter is Coming” that came out of the blue, and triggered an outbreak of speculations among the fans. Check the tweet out:

The first conclusion everybody jumped to was that a Season 8 remake was coming.

Others weren’t so nice:

Now, before you put your tinfoil hat on, there could be a rational explanation for this tweet. It’s almost December, so the tweet could simply be referring to just Winter. You know, the season?

If not that, the tweet could be hinting at another prequel series coming up. We recently saw HBO cancel The Long Night prequel series, and officially announce a new prequel series called House of the Dragon, which will revolve around the golden days of house Targaryen. Some fans also hoped that this could be a sign of a White Walker focused prequel series.

Of course this could be a possibility, as HBO is working on multiple ideas for the prequel series. Or, it could be that Season 8 was a massive joke on us and HBO is going to unveil the real Season 8 and say “gotcha!”
