Game of Thrones has made the careers of many actors for whom it was their first big break. Without a doubt, it was a long and difficult road for most of them. However, we recently learned that Emilia Clarke (Daenerys Targaryen) had suffered multiple brain aneurysms while in the process of filming the show, which made it an even bigger struggle for her. She recently spoke a bit more about it, and how it scared her that she might affect her ability to act. Read on!
Emilia had talked about her aneurysms in an open letter. Soon after, she went on CBS Sunday Morning and talked about her fears that spawned from her condition. The Daily Mail reports that her second aneurysm was quite serious. It starved her brain of blood for more than a minute. This meant possible brain damage. She said:
“So, they [the doctors] literally were looking at the brain and being like, ‘Well, we think it could be – could be her concentration, it could be her peripheral vision.
I always say it’s my taste in men.”
Always seeing the funny side of things. She went on to talk about the fear that came next:
“For a very long time, I thought it was my ability to act…that was a deep paranoia.”
However, she said that filming for the show helped her recover. Furthermore, she said that it was hard to feel mortal while playing a ‘badass character who walked through fire’. She said:
“You go on the set, and you play a badass character, and you walk through fire, and you speak to hundreds of people, and you’re being asked to be – to work as hard as you possibly can. And that became the thing that just saved me from considering my own mortality, yeah.”
Emilia had also recently talked about how she used her Dothraki lines to keep her brain active. We’re glad the Khaleesi made it out of her situation, perfectly fine. What do you guys think? Talk to us in the comments, down below!
