House of the Dragon showrunner helped Milly Alcock with her immigration papers
Ryan Condal has been one of the primary showrunners of House of the Dragon. He handpicked the actors and made major decisions that made the show such a hit. So, naturally he deserves some credit for shooting Milly Alcock to global fame. When he learned that Alcock might be playing Supergirl in the near future, Condal ensured the actress faced no difficulty. He recalled while speaking to Entertainment Weekly,
“We texted back and forth, but I had heard a rumor that she was up for it in the final running. There was something else going on that I think her reps needed a letter from me or something like that for immigration. It was something very boring. So I was just texting with her to say, ‘It’s all taken care of. Let me know if you need anything else. By the way, are you Supergirl?’ And then I got back a series of emojis that totally did not answer the question but did intrigue me.”
Condal was beyond overjoyed to learn Alcock is in the running for the part since he believes the sky’s the limit for the talented young actress. She’s only just getting started and who knows what heights she’ll scale in her career. Other actresses in the running to play Supergirl were Meg Donelly, Cailee Spaeny, and Emilia Jones. Condal immediately congratulated Alcock when her casting news made the headlines.
“She’s just such a wonderful person and young actor. Sky’s the limit in front of her now. Literally the sky’s the limit because you will be flying through it. But it’s just crazy to me, and I’m so proud of her and so happy for her, and I think it’s great. I’m just hoping that she ends up filming at Leavesden [the U.K. studio where they shoot House of the Dragon] so that we can hang out on each other’s sets.”
Supergirl in upcoming DC movies
While the actress will be portraying the iconic character across all upcoming DC projects, Superman: Woman of Tomorrow will be her first solo movie as Supergirl. She will be first seen in David Corenswet’s Superman which is set to release next year.
