George R. R. Martin says The Winds of Winter will release in 2017

While Game of Thrones has already finished six seasons and is on the way to return to television in the summer of 2017 with Season 7, A Song of Ice and Fire, the series of books on which Game of Thrones is based, is yet to hit the sixth book. The series has passed the books when it comes to the storyline, and George R. R. Martin, the author, while working on the next book “The Winds of Winter“, is being quite slow about it, gathering a lot of questions from fans. He provided us with an update at the beginning of December, and nothing much since. Now we have an update from him, and it says that the book will release this year.

George uses his Not a Blog to update his fans about his life. In a recent update about NFL, where George discussed the season, a fan seemed to find the space to ask George about The Winds of Winter, despite the post not being about it.

User named J Snow, commented :

“As i stated in my last attempt, i respect you immensely and do not want you to rush or release anything untill you are completely satisfied with it.

That being said, it has been a whole year since we have received an updated. You have placated our hunger with another superb sample ch. (the Forsaken), and for that, we are grateful. But unless you want to be bombarded with im’s like this, i would suggest another updated.

Even if its as simple as, ‘not done yet, but ive made progress( or not) ‘, or ‘ it’ll be out this year (or not)’. Anything(or not). Either way, have a great new year, and thank you for, imo, the best fantasy series out there.”

To this, George replied :

“You really think statements like that would make a difference? Ah, you sweet summer child. I have years of experience with this that tells me otherwise.

But okay, I will try it your way.

Not done yet, but I’ve made progress. But not as much as I hoped a year ago, when I thought to be done by now.

I think it will be out this year. (But hey, I thought the same thing last year).”

That gives us hope! Let’s just hold tight and hope that George is right this year, because we’re too old to wait another year!
