Game of Thrones fan theory guide

With Games of Thrones potentially nearing its final few seasons, Season 6 is set to be the most important to date.

The TV show is now – officially – ahead of the books, so dedicated fans are starting to think about the many different ways the show could wrap up.

Among the diehard fans, the level of “hype” is a means of judging the popularity of some of these wild and wonderful theories – and vouchercloud has ranked some of the popular Game of Throne fan theories – with a roast chicken scale – to try and predict which direction the show is going to go and to answer the question how will Game of Thrones end?

Jon Snow becomes a White Walker and conquers Westeros

Game of Thrones fan theory guide

This is the theory that Jon Snow will eventually be turned into a White Walker and will lead the army of the dead to take over all of Westeros. Arguably this would probably solve a lot of problems as everyone would be technically still alive yet dead. After being betrayed by the Nights Watch there is a lot of support for the wiping out of those who betrayed Jon.

R+L = JGame of Thrones fan theory guide

This is the theory that keeps on theoring. Countless other theories have been created from the strength of this one. The amount of hints dropped about this on the twitter feeds, interviews and leaked set photos almost confirm this. This theory is that Rhaegar Targaryen and Lyanna Stark were lovers and Jon Snow was the result of that courtship. If this is true then Jon Snow is actually a Targaryen and is an heir to the Iron Throne.

Daenerys marries Jon Snow

Game of Thrones fan theory guide

If the whole R+L = J is true then the age old tradition of

Targaryen’s marrying each other will be going strong. Although if Jon Snow really is the son of Rhaegar then that would mean that Daenerys is technically his aunt. Whilst that would be frowned upon (and probably be illegal) in the real world it’s rather unsurprising in the George RR Universe. Also, after all the bloodshed that we have witnessed we may even be grateful for this union.

Stannis is alive and well and will claim The Iron Throne

Whilst the writers of the TV series may have said that Stannis is dead, there is enough love for Stannis from fans that

it is hard to write him off completely. Stannis the Mannis has repeatedly

shown he puts the good of the realm above his own personal gain (example being the burning of his own daughter). Although his recent losses at Kings Landing and at Winterfell dent his martial capabilities he is still very much alive. Maybe Brienne remembered her duties as a Kingsguard?

Game of Thrones follows a passage in the Bible

Game of Thrones fan theory guide

This theory is one of the more complicated fan theories out there. George RR Martin is reportedly inspired by the

rich Norse mythology and the origins of similar Nordic religions, but a lot of his inspiration also comes from biblical stories. Keen eyed

fans have noted that the Book of Revelation 12-19 pretty much sums up the entirety of Game of Thrones. There is a detailed reddit thead that is the source of the rumour and can be found below. Essentially, Aegon Targaryen survived the slaughter of the Targaryen’s and he (or at least an Aegon lookalike) will return to Westeros and conquer it to restore the dynasty. Daenerys then returns and ruins everything for everyone and Jon retuns as a White Walker to wipe out the survivors

Jon Snow and Meera Reed are siblingsGame of Thrones fan theory guide

An old rumour but one that hasn’t gone away is that Meera Reed is Jon Snow’s sister. This theory links to the R+L=J theory except the courtship resulted in twins! In the shows the characters are portrayed by similar looking actors and in the books both characters are the same age. Surely the level of hype is strong with this one?

CleganeBowl

The taking of Kings Landing by the High Sparrow and Cersei

Lannister humiliated by his religious zealots has fuelled rich debates on how Cersei will seek retribution. One such debate surrounds the much hyped about “CleganeBowl”. This theory involves Cersei using the reanimated Gregor “The Mountain” Clegane in a trial by combat against Sandor “The Hound” Clegane. The reddit thread is a rich source of all things Cleganebowl and the hype is unprecedented. What started as a hype fest can actually turn out to be true with new cast members hinting of a return of a much loved character.

Recent leaks from the set of House of The Dragon point at Rhaenyra Targaryen and Laenor Velaryon’s wedding celebrations?

Published

on

Filming for Game of Thrones prequel House of The Dragon is moving very swiftly, as evident from the frequent leaks we’re witnessing with every passing day. Though HBO has been mum about revealing any more info about the show, these periodic leaks are causing waves of excitement amongst the fans, as they’re left wondering and speculating who’s who in the new set pictures. Here’s one of the theories we have been pondering about looking at the most recent leaks, the crew of House of The Dragon is gearing up for a tourney being held for Rhaenyra Targaryen and Laenor Velaryon’s wedding celebrations.

Theo Nate to play Laenor Velaryon in Game of Thrones prequel House of The Dragon

There are plenty of factors that point towards the above conclusion. One, in the last few days, we have seen a few leaks showing a young Rhaenyra Targaryen and Laenor Velaryon taking a walk together on a beach. Two, we recently had more pictures of Matt Smith as Daemon Targaryen filming on set, one in Royal costume and the newest ones in Targaryen battle gear. Props for his dragon Caraxes were not spotted as well, and since he mostly rides Caraxes for a battle, it seems more than likely that he’s donning the armour for a tourney.

Also, there were pictures of a Targaryen camp being set up, close to the place where Daemon Targaryen was spotted in costume. There are not many soldiers in the view, so it doesn’t seem to be like a preparation for war.

However, one of the flaws to the theory is that in the book, the tourney was held at King’s Landing, while all the shots above have been taken close to a beach. Tell us about your theories in the comments below!

Does Melisandre’s ‘Green Eyes’ prophecy predict Arya killing Daenerys?

Published

on

arya-daenerys-green-eyes-prophecy

“You will shut many eyes forever – brown eyes, blue eyes, green eyes.” So said Melisandre of Asshai when she met Arya Stark for the first time. This prophecy has played out since then, with both ‘brown eyes’ (Walder Frey) and ‘blue eyes’ (Night King) succumbing to Arya’s blade. Fans have long predicted the green eyes to signify Queen Cersei. But the equation changed with Game of Thrones Season 8 Episode 5 ‘The Bells’ when another pair of green eyes became very important – Queen Daenerys Targaryen.

In an unfathomably shocking act of madness, Daenerys Targaryen torched thousands of innocent King’s Landing civilians in Game of Thrones’ penultimate episode, and as such established herself as the most devastating villain of the series ever.

arya-daenerys-green-eyes-prophecy

Before Dany’s Mad Queen twist, Cersei was being regarded as the ‘Mad Queen’, mainly for blowing the Sept of Baelor with Wildfire in Season 6, but also for her general ruthlessness and murderous ways. The Lannister Lioness’ green eyes are quite famous and have been referenced multiple times in the books and the show.

Now, Cersei has been on Arya’s kill list since Season 2 and she even came to King’s Landing with the purpose of killing her. Melisandre’s prophecy in Season 3 also included green eyes, so many fans thought Arya will fulfil this target next. That expectation was strengthened when Arya left Winterfell on ‘unfinished business’ in episode 4.

But Sandor Clegane turned Arya back from that path and she went on to survive the burning of the city by just an inch. With Cersei now dead and Arya witnessing Daenerys’ carnage first-hand, it is all too possible that the significance of ‘green eyes’ has changed for Arya.

arya-daenerys-green-eyes-prophecy

Interestingly, Daenerys’ eyes were not even supposed to be green. In the books, they are purple, and in keeping with the unusual physiological traits of Valyrian Dragonlords from whom Daenerys is descended. But Emilia Clarke, the actor who plays Daenerys in the show, has green eyes. Although she wore purple contacts in the unaired pilot of Game of Thrones, that idea was discarded in the main show and Clarke stuck to her natural eye colour.

If the show follows the books in terms of major plot points (and Daenerys’ death should be a major plot point) then the Arya-killing-Daenerys-because-of-prophecy scenario is unlikely, because book Daenerys does not even have green eyes. But the show has introduced many plot twists – so this is not totally implausible either.

What do you think of this theory? Will Arya fulfil the ‘green eyes’ prophecy by killing Daenerys or some completely different end awaits the ‘Queen of Ashes’? Tell us in the comments!

Here’s what Arya Stark and her white horse could mean for Game of Thrones

Here's what Arya Stark and her white horse could mean for Game of Thrones

Game of Thrones Season 8 episode 5 “The Bells” had a lot going for it. So many happenings and so many deaths in just one episode, but it ended with a scene that baffled quite a lot of users. We saw Arya make her way through the destruction in King’s Landing, and find a white horse, whom she rides out of the city. Here’s what it could mean for the show, and the series finale.

White Horses have been used as a symbol in storytelling for a long time now, for both good and bad things. However, fans are speculating that this particular bit might be pointing towards a Bible verse that talks about the four horsemen of the apocalypse. The passage says:

“And I looked, and behold a pale horse: and his name that sat on him was Death, and Hell followed with him.”

Here's what Arya Stark and her white horse could mean for Game of Thrones

Arya and death have danced for a long time in the show, and it seems like the show is hinting that Arya will have a final battle with death in the series finale. We saw who brought death in “The Bells” — Daenerys Targaryen, and it feels like could be the second bit of foreshadowing that Arya could be responsible for Daenerys’ death, after the ‘green eyes’ clue.

It also connects to both Arya and Daenerys, as Ned Stark used to ride a white horse, and so did Daenerys, at the beginning of the show. Maybe it’s things coming together for Arya and Daenerys, both of whose fathers were murdered in King’s Landing.

Either that, our we will get our expectations subverted again. What do you guys think? Talk to us in the comments, down below!
