Game of Thrones prequel House of The Dragon is moving fast with its production, and we can expect a spring release in 2022. Most of the main characters have been cast, and HBO has officially declared who’s playing who in the much-awaited prequel. With set pictures leaking quite often on the internet, the fans are getting a glimpse of more cast members in action. Recently, another rather unknown member of the House of The Dragon cast came into the limelight, via a leaked picture from the Aldershot set posted by Portal House of The Dragon Brasil.

One of the most common theories about the cast member in question is that she’s playing Prince Daemon Targaryen’s first wife Rhea Royce. This is how the character’s wiki describes her:
“In 97 AC, Queen Alysanne Targaryen wed her grandson, Prince Daemon Targaryen, to Lady Rhea Royce, the heir to Runestone. Although the marriage was a fine, rich match, the marriage was not a success. Daemon found the Vale of Arryn little to his liking and grew bored. He soon developed a dislike for his wife, holding no love or affection toward Rhea, referring to her as his bronze bitch, a mocking reference to the ancient armour of the Royces. Rhea likewise had no love for Daemon, and they were soon estranged.”
Well, the armour certainly checks out, but other details about the character are currently under wraps. Who do you think the character from the recent leaks is? Tell us in the comments below!
Balerion, The Black Dread, might not show up in House of The Dragon
HBO just dropped the teaser trailer for Game of Thrones prequel House of The Dragon, and it broke the internet as soon as it was released. The highly anticipated prequel series has been HBO’s top priority for quite some time, and judging by the reaction of the fans that the teaser received, we can assume that they were right to do so. Though we witnessed several details about the upcoming show from the teaser, and of course the recent leaks, we didn’t get much information about the dragons, hardly any at all. But the teaser did give a slight hint about a certain dragon, Aegon The Conqueror’s famous ride Balerion the Black Dread might not be there in the series.
In the teaser, we captured a quick glance at what appears to be a dragon skull. Judging by the size of the skull, and the thousands of lit candles in front of it, we can assume it is the skull of Balerion, who was dead by the time of Dance of the Dragons in Fire and Blood novel.
The size of the skull is comparable, if not slightly bigger than the skull we have seen in Game of Thrones, stored in the Red Keep. Another fact that points towards Balerion’s absence is that HBO recently changed the description of House of The Dragon on their official website. Instead of the earlier synopsis that said the timeline of the show being set 300 years prior to Game of Thrones, it has now been changed to 200 years. Balerion died in 94 AC, when Viserys I Targaryen was still young and hadn’t ascended to the throne. Hence it is very unlikely the dreadful beast will make an appearance, given that the series mainly focuses on the civil war that began after Viserys’ death.

Recent leaks from the set of House of The Dragon point at Rhaenyra Targaryen and Laenor Velaryon’s wedding celebrations?
Filming for Game of Thrones prequel House of The Dragon is moving very swiftly, as evident from the frequent leaks we’re witnessing with every passing day. Though HBO has been mum about revealing any more info about the show, these periodic leaks are causing waves of excitement amongst the fans, as they’re left wondering and speculating who’s who in the new set pictures. Here’s one of the theories we have been pondering about looking at the most recent leaks, the crew of House of The Dragon is gearing up for a tourney being held for Rhaenyra Targaryen and Laenor Velaryon’s wedding celebrations.
There are plenty of factors that point towards the above conclusion. One, in the last few days, we have seen a few leaks showing a young Rhaenyra Targaryen and Laenor Velaryon taking a walk together on a beach. Two, we recently had more pictures of Matt Smith as Daemon Targaryen filming on set, one in Royal costume and the newest ones in Targaryen battle gear. Props for his dragon Caraxes were not spotted as well, and since he mostly rides Caraxes for a battle, it seems more than likely that he’s donning the armour for a tourney.
Also, there were pictures of a Targaryen camp being set up, close to the place where Daemon Targaryen was spotted in costume. There are not many soldiers in the view, so it doesn’t seem to be like a preparation for war.
However, one of the flaws to the theory is that in the book, the tourney was held at King’s Landing, while all the shots above have been taken close to a beach. Tell us about your theories in the comments below!
Does Melisandre’s ‘Green Eyes’ prophecy predict Arya killing Daenerys?
“You will shut many eyes forever – brown eyes, blue eyes, green eyes.” So said Melisandre of Asshai when she met Arya Stark for the first time. This prophecy has played out since then, with both ‘brown eyes’ (Walder Frey) and ‘blue eyes’ (Night King) succumbing to Arya’s blade. Fans have long predicted the green eyes to signify Queen Cersei. But the equation changed with Game of Thrones Season 8 Episode 5 ‘The Bells’ when another pair of green eyes became very important – Queen Daenerys Targaryen.
In an unfathomably shocking act of madness, Daenerys Targaryen torched thousands of innocent King’s Landing civilians in Game of Thrones’ penultimate episode, and as such established herself as the most devastating villain of the series ever.
Before Dany’s Mad Queen twist, Cersei was being regarded as the ‘Mad Queen’, mainly for blowing the Sept of Baelor with Wildfire in Season 6, but also for her general ruthlessness and murderous ways. The Lannister Lioness’ green eyes are quite famous and have been referenced multiple times in the books and the show.
Now, Cersei has been on Arya’s kill list since Season 2 and she even came to King’s Landing with the purpose of killing her. Melisandre’s prophecy in Season 3 also included green eyes, so many fans thought Arya will fulfil this target next. That expectation was strengthened when Arya left Winterfell on ‘unfinished business’ in episode 4.
But Sandor Clegane turned Arya back from that path and she went on to survive the burning of the city by just an inch. With Cersei now dead and Arya witnessing Daenerys’ carnage first-hand, it is all too possible that the significance of ‘green eyes’ has changed for Arya.
Interestingly, Daenerys’ eyes were not even supposed to be green. In the books, they are purple, and in keeping with the unusual physiological traits of Valyrian Dragonlords from whom Daenerys is descended. But Emilia Clarke, the actor who plays Daenerys in the show, has green eyes. Although she wore purple contacts in the unaired pilot of Game of Thrones, that idea was discarded in the main show and Clarke stuck to her natural eye colour.
If the show follows the books in terms of major plot points (and Daenerys’ death should be a major plot point) then the Arya-killing-Daenerys-because-of-prophecy scenario is unlikely, because book Daenerys does not even have green eyes. But the show has introduced many plot twists – so this is not totally implausible either.
What do you think of this theory? Will Arya fulfil the ‘green eyes’ prophecy by killing Daenerys or some completely different end awaits the ‘Queen of Ashes’? Tell us in the comments!
