George R. R. Martin to produce an animated short film "Night of the Cooters"

George R. R. Martin is one of the most famous novelists in the world today, and his stories are loved far and wide. The TV adaptation of his A Song of Ice and Fire was adapted as Game of Thrones, the biggest show of the 21st century. However, he hasn’t been able to complete the novel series, the last book having been published a decade ago. Fans are desperately waiting for the next installment of the series the Winds of Winter. Though he keeps assuring us he is working on the project, the fans are convinced otherwise. Recently he announced his new graphic novel project, titled Voyaging, that he dreamed of ‘long before’ Game Of Thrones’ Westeros.

Martin wrote on his blog Not A Blog, “The Thousand Worlds stories spanned centuries and light-years and had their own cast of heroes, villains, legends, and colourful characters… none of them more colourful than the trader (and ecological engineer) Haviland Tuf, the protagonist of a long series of stories I collected together in the fix-up Tuf Voyaging.”

“I always meant to write more Tuf stories. At one point, back in the 80s, I planned a second collection of stories (Twice As Tuf) and a full-length Tuf novel (Tuf Landing)… but, alas, other novels and television and Ice & Fire came along, and what with one thing and another I never got around to writing them.”

“From time to time, I’ve even played with the idea of a television series about Tuf and his adventures… the stories are presently under option, as it happens, but… well, that hasn’t come to pass yet either. But I am thrilled to be able to say that Haviland Tuf and his cats (he likes cats, y’see) are coming back… in a graphic novel.”

Here is the official description:

George R.R. Martin and Raya Golden’s VOYAGING, VOLUME ONE: THE PLAGUE STAR, the first volume of a graphic novel adaptation of TUF VOYAGING, Martin’s short story collection set in his science fiction universe the Thousand Worlds, to be adapted and illustrated by Golden, which follows a group of unlikely spacefaring rogues on a mysterious mission involving unfathomable galactic fame and fortune (but only if they can survive), to Kaitlin Ketchum at Ten Speed Press, in an exclusive submission.

Martin also shared an artwork by RAYA GOLDEN, with the following comment:

“….these are rough color tests and they may or may not end up looking like this in the end, but I think they’re pretty close to the final versions which I’ll be working from once I finish up the script…”

George R. R. Martin confirms the existence of 17 dragons in House of The Dragon

Game of Thrones prequel House of The Dragon is one of HBO’s most ambitious projects yet. The show will be showing the events from the time when Targaryens were flourishing in Westeros, and so were their dragons, about 300 years ago. In a recent discussion with House of The Dragon showrunner Ryan J. Condal and David Mendel on their podcast, The Stuff Dreams are Made of, Game of Thrones creator George R. R. Martin confirmed the existence of 17 dragons on the show, at least in the first season.

Ryan Condal’s and David Mandel’s podcast about movie and television prop collecting has returned after a mid-season break, and it starts with a bang as Condal recruits none other than George R. R. Martin to discuss his own history as a collector, as well as just a wee bit of discussion of House of the Dragons at the end. Fans should find this one pretty interesting, in particular George’s feelings regarding the ideal adapters of his work going forward.

Discussion of Game of Thrones and House of the Dragon related matter begins around the 1 hour, 18-minute mark. If we will have 17 dragons out of the 21 that exist in the Dance of the Dragons period, we will possibly not see wild dragons in Season 1. Like Gray Ghost and Cannibal.

Targaryens and Velaryons

Filming for Game of Thrones prequel House of The Dragon is moving very swiftly, as evident from the frequent leaks we’re witnessing with every passing day. Though HBO has been mum about revealing any more info about the show, these periodic leaks are causing waves of excitement amongst the fans, as they’re left wondering and speculating who’s who in the new set pictures. Fans have been wondering for a while about some of the key characters that have not been announced yet. Recently, a few more pictures were leaked, depicting the Targaryen and Velaryon families gathering up for a meet.

Recently a couple of pictures were leaked by House of The Dragon Brasil’s Twitter handle that showed a huge crowd of cast and crew getting ready for a scene. Several white/silver wigs were spotted, and though the faces are not clear because of the distance, we can make out a few characters who are present at the site.

Some of the key characters present on the set are Rhaenys Velaryon (Eve Best), Rhaenyra Targaryen (Milly Alcock), Alicent Hightower (Emily Carey) and Matt Smith (Daemon Targaryen). There are more wigged characters as well, but their face is not visible, but we can safely assume they might be Targaryens as well.

The filming for Game of Thrones prequel House of The Dragon is moving at a really swift pace, as shown by the frequent leaks that we’re witnessing every day. The more pictures we see, the more it gets clear that HBO is going to go deep into the Dance of the Dragons storyline, and cover more chapters from the books than we initially expected. More pictures from the set were leaked recently by The Daily Mail, and these new pictures provide a clearer perspective of Daemon Targaryen’s costume.

The newest photos show House of The Dragon star Matt Smith in Daemon Targaryen’s attire talking to a crew member. It seems like he was taking a break from shooting in some of these photos, spending some time playing with a puppy close to a house.

There are also some pictures of the shoot, one of them shows Matt Smith walking down a beach, and the cast and crew members discussing an important scene on the beach at a distance. We can spot some more Targaryens, by looking at the wigs they are wearing, they might be Emma D’Arcy as Rhaenyra Targaryen and Matt Smith himself.
