Game of Thrones creator George R. R. Martin’s A Song Of Ice And Fire is highly popular all over the world. The show might have ended controversially, and Martin is doing his part in annoying the fans quite efficiently. It has been a decade since his last Game of Thrones book was released, and fans are getting quite impatient about the Winds of Winter. Not just fans, even renowned writers have joined the fray, especially those who liked his work. In fact, The Expanse Authors Daniel Abraham and Ty Franck, who write together under the pen name James S. A. Corey, recently won a bet with Martin regarding finishing their novels first.

The duo started writing their Expanse series of science fiction novels in 2011, starting with Leviathan Wakes. Now, a decade later, they’ve turned in the ninth and final book in the series, Leviathan Falls.

The authors also revealed that by turning Leviathan Falls over to their publisher they won “my bet with [George R.R. Martin] that we’d beat him to the finish, which I think means we get all of his treasures.”

We are not yet sure what treasure the duo has won from the bet. Martin’s last Game of Thrones novel, A Dance with Dragons, came out the same year that The Expanse began. Which makes the situation even funnier.

When do you think George R. R. Martin will finally finish Winds of Winter? Talk to us in the comments below!

Maybe they could get Brian Sanderson to help Martin out.
