Hannah Waddingham on Becoming Friends With Lena Headey on Game of Thrones

Hannah Waddingham was scared she would start “lactating” while filming ‘Walk of Shame’ on hearing her baby cry

Game of Thrones was like a huge family, consisting of varied personalities coming together to make a great show. No matter how adverse their roles were on-screen, they were quite friendly in real life. Take for example, the case of Cersei’s torturer Septa Unella. The two characters couldn’t see eye to eye in the fantasy series. However, in real life, Hannah Waddingham (Unella) and Lena Headey are close friends.

In a recent episode of Collider’s Ladies Night, Waddingham said, “I think the key with Lena and myself was we immediately got on. We’re both what we would call here ‘birds.’ We’re not fluffy, girly girls. We got on immediately, we really dig each other from the word ‘go,’ and I think that we just realized that it was very much a bit of teamwork on that. She and I are friends still today and if you think about how little time that we actually spent on that together, that makes me feel like they got the chemistry right there.”

She continued, “I was acutely aware of coming into something where she had been carving out such a magnificent three-dimensional character for five seasons. I owed it to her and to her detailed work to come in and bolster that up around her. So I’m just glad that it was so well received and that she and I are still very silly friends.”

Shawn Mendes talks about his obsession with Game of Thrones, reveals the show inspired him to take up a new hobby

Shawn Mendes

Game of Thrones is one of the most popular shows of all time, there’s hardly anyone on this planet who hasn’t heard of the show. The upcoming prequel House of The Dragon is on the way, and fans all over the world are already hyped up about it. While some of us have already started a rewatch of the epic fantasy series to gear up for the prequel show, singer Shawn Mendes is already a step ahead of everyone else. In a recent appearance on the Spout podcast, the hit singer talked about his obsession for Game of Thrones, which he developed during the lockdown period.

Describing the homebound months, Shawn said, “It was nice. It really became so important to just walk around. It was nice to feel a part of a home and have that daily routine like that.” Mendes also expressed his love for coffee, which acted as fuel for his exercise. “I was getting really into the coffee mug. I was like waking up in the morning and I was like, ‘What? Which coffee mug am I today? I was getting really technical about it and it was just like everything to me. You know, it was my home. I would go to bed super excited for that moment.”

GoT obsession

Talking about using time productively, Mendes explained that while his newest album Summer of Love kept him occupied for the better part of the summer, his Game of Thrones obsession inspired him to take up archery. Fan-boying over the show, Shawn said, “It was the most I’ve ever enjoyed watching TV in my life. So I’m not going to sit here and talk s**t about the final show because in the grand scheme of things that show was mind-blowing.” As for the archery, he added, “I think the real reality is that I struggle to put down the guitar and figure out what to do besides my job and besides music. I’m just completely obsessed with it.”

Peter Dinklage reveals why initially he didn’t want to star in Game of Thrones

Published

Peter Dinklage role got

Game of Thrones wrapped up filming over two years ago. Though the fantasy epic was famous for killing off characters in the most brutal ways, some of the fan-favorites did survive till the end of the series. One of them was Daenerys Targaryen‘s chief advisor and Hand of the Queen Tyrion Lannister. Tyrion was definitely one of the most popular characters on the show and was perfected by none other than veteran actor Peter Dinklage. Today, we can’t imagine someone else in that role, Dinklage is almost synonymous with Tyrion. However, initially, Dinklage refused to take up his famous role when first approached by the Game of Thrones showrunners.

Peter Dinklage role got

In a recent Q&A session, Dinklage told IndieWire, “That is just what followed the fantasy genre for people my size. Why do we always have to follow that boring fucking formula of pointy shoes and a beard? Who invented that? Why are we still following that? We don’t need to. I said that to them. I didn’t know anything about Tyrion. Didn’t read the books or anything. I was just being an asshole.”

We already know Dinklage has a problem with typical dwarf roles, he has objected to them in the past. He even refused to grow a beard initially for the show, to avoid being stereotyped.

Emilia Clarke scared to get a cosmetic surgery after suffering two brain haemorrhages while filming Game of Thrones

Emilia Clarke scared to get a cosmetic surgery after suffering two brain haemorrhages while filming Game of Thrones

Game of Thrones star Emilia Clarke is one of the bravest and most dedicated actresses in the filmmaking industry. She went through suffering two life-threatening brain aneurysms while she was filming for Game of Thrones, but she kept going on. The intense heat didn’t stop her, the long hours of work didn’t deter her. But there’s one thing she hates the most, and that’s going under the knife for modifying her looks. Cosmetic surgery; she hates that, and her reasons are quite plausible.

Clarke told People magazine that the experience helped her to realise that beauty comes from the inside, asking: “What the f*** is wrong with ageing? The idea of me putting my face in the hands of someone else with a knife, no, no, no! Don’t come at me with that. It’s not going to happen.”

Clarke added that one reason was fear and that she also felt that she wouldn’t be able to do her job properly if she couldn’t move her face.

The star said she didn’t have a carpe diem moment when she had her brain haemorrhages but that she did become very scared of dying.

She went on, “What the f*** is wrong with ageing? What are the two truths in life? Taxes and death. It’s happening. Getting older is a guarantee. I think the women who look most beautiful are the women who don’t look younger.”

Do you agree with Clarke? Talk to us in the comments below!
