Warner Bros. Space Jam 2 trailer pays homage to Game of Thrones

Game of Thrones trend

We have always wondered how it would be like to delve into the world of toons ever since we were kids. There have been many movies on the concept. Space Jam (1996) was a crossover between the world of cartoons and the basketball arena and was widely successful. Warner Bros is bringing the thrill of basketball and the comedy of our favourite cartoons back to the silver screen with Space Jam: A New Legacy. Watch the trailer right below!

Warner Bros. officially released the first trailer for Space Jam: A New Legacy, the long-awaited follow-up to the 1996 classic. The movie stars NBA icon, LeBron James. James himself described his Space Jam as a family film, primarily revolving around the relationship between James and his fictional son, Dom. The two find themselves trapped in a virtual reality filled with WB characters and go up against Don Cheadle’s Al-G Rhythm.

Space Jam 2’s trailer gives a subtle nod to various classic WB characters, like Superman, Iron Giant, King Kong etc. The trailer also features the famous globe and the map of Westeros from Game of Thrones. You can clearly spot it in the opening minutes of the trailer, as the ring around the globe spells Game of Thrones. It is similar to the opening theme of the fantasy series.

If you notice closely, you can also find a glimpse of Drogon, Daenerys’ only surviving dragon in the trailer. Whether he plays a role in the movie is still unknown.

Check out this interview of a young George R. R. Martin shared by the author himself

Game of Thrones creator George R. R. Martin is one of the most celebrated authors of the present generation. Several of his novels are best selling books all over the world, and of course, the TV adaptation of his A Song of Ice and Fire broke all records in TV history. He recently shared a video of himself on his blog Not A Blog, where a younger version of him is seen criticizing the sci-fi genre for being too predictive.

The interview was with the University of Calgary’s campus TV station NUTV. “I don’t think anybody reads science fiction in order to find out what the future is going to be like,” he said. “If they did, they’d go crazy. For every right prediction in a science fiction story, there are a thousand terribly wrong predictions.”

“Any literature is written for the contemporary audience…It’s meant for the audience here and now and it’s only to the extent that it speaks to that contemporary audience that it is successful or it is a failure.”

“I don’t remember that hair,” he writes on his Not a Blog. “My hair was dark brown when I was young. When I got older, it went to gray and then white. Judging from this clip, I guess 1991 was when it changed, but I don’t ever recall it being half-and-half like that, or having a dark beard with white hair. But I guess I did.”

Jason Momoa dedicates his Dune fight scene to Game of Thrones co-star Emilia Clarke

Jason Momoa dedicates his Dune fight scene to Game of Thrones co-star Emilia Clarke

Game of Thrones was a beautiful journey for the cast and the fans alike. It was a show like no other, breaking records and gaining unprecedented popularity. The cast made lifelong relationships with each other. Jason Momoa and Emilia Clarke may have played a couple on-screen for a little time on Game of Thrones as Khal Drogo and Daenerys Targaryen, they have been great friends behind the screens in real life. Momoa recently shared a behind-the-scene training video from Dune, and he dedicated one of his badass fight scenes to Game of Thrones’ Khaleesi.

Momoa shared a new behind-the-scenes video today about his role as a loyal soldier of House Atreides, Duncan Idaho, in the upcoming Denis Villeneuve movie. It’s short, but sweet, focusing less on Idaho’s character and more on how Momoa prepared for the character’s major fight sequences in the film—where Duncan single-handedly goes up against swaths of men, carving a path through their shields and armour with his twin daggers.

But perhaps the cutest aside is that just as Momoa prepares to go in for filming on one of his big fight scenes in the first movie—battling the forces of House Harkonnen hand to hand in a scene glimpsed throughout the trailers—Momoa casually dates the footage, by saying that he’d just watched the Game of Thrones series finale the night before. We’re not left to wonder what exactly the former Khal thought of the series’ end, but he does offer an inkling that he was perhaps not too pleased that Emilia Clarke’s Daenerys Targaryen didn’t avoid Momoa’s own grim Thrones fate in the end—going into filming the battle with a simple “This one’s for you, Khaleesi!”

Game of Thrones fan creates real-life version of Beric Dondarrion’s flaming sword

Game of Thrones fan creates real-life version of Beric Dondarrion’s flaming sword

Game of Thrones had some of the most iconic weaponry in television history. They have been turned into props and merchandise and are quite sought after. But there are some weapons that have seemed quite impossible to make, that is, until now. Remember when the character Beric Dondarrion used a flaming sword as his trademark weapon and wielded it against the Hound in season 3? He used it against the army of the dead in season 8 as well. A fan has managed to bring fantasy to life, after making a real-life replica of the sword, along with the flames.

YouTube channel Faraway Forge posted a video of the full construction of the sword step by step. In the video below, the man takes you through each and every step of the process all the way to the big flaming final product.

The video shows the full process of making the sword, from start to finish. It appears to have been coated with some kind of material film that supports combustion for longer periods of time. It is truly amazing to watch such a beautiful creation come to life.

What do you think of the real-life replica of the fictional weapon? Talk to us in the comments below!
