Richard Brake and Sophie Turner reveal the hard work and secrecy behind Game of Thrones

When a show becomes a hit like Game of Thrones, a lot of new factors come into play. To keep the show engaging and entertaining, the showrunners had to be really careful about getting spoilers leaked. A lot of hard work was put in keeping the story a secret. Sophie Turner, who played Sansa Stark, once revealed how hard HBO was trying to tighten the security. In the final season, visitors had stickers on their phones to prevent pictures. The cast was given code names on call sheets and the show itself was dubbed ‘Face of Angels’. There were a lot of reshoots, and each reshoot took a lot of time. In an interview with Digital Spy, Turner and Richard Brake (Night King) talked about the dedicated work behind the show’s success.

Richard Brake: “‘Hardhome’ was massive in terms of its budget and in terms of the amount of time we had to shoot it. The amount of time it took to shoot those 20 minutes of the battle scene at Hardhome was equivalent to almost the amount of time I’ve had to shoot entire films.”

Sophie Turner (Sansa): “We wouldn’t get physical [scripts]. We would have it on an app. We would get sent sides for the scene [we were shooting] the next day. So we would have to learn it all the day before. And once you’ve read it, it disappears 24 hours later, and you can never access it again. It was tighter than the White House security!”

The teaser trailer for Game of Thrones prequel House of The Dragon broke the internet as soon as it was launched, and fans can’t get enough of it. The prequel series has caught a lot of attention recently, owing to the frequent leaks and of course the amazing teaser. Game of Thrones alum Nikolaj Coster-Waldau recently expressed his thoughts about the upcoming spinoff show.

Coster-Waldau told The Hollywood Reporter, “I saw the teaser trailer that they came out with and I was intrigued. I thought it was fun to see Matt Smith in that world, in that beautiful white wig. And listen, I’m curious as everyone [to see it].

But it is a very different show. It’s its own show. I just hope it’s great. I hope the success of Game of Thrones won’t get in the way for people when they experience this new show. For us, it took a while for people to get into Game of Thrones. I remember the first season people were saying: “There are too many characters, I don’t know what’s going on!” I don’t think they have the luxury we had. They have to start with where we were in like season four or five, because that’s what they will be compared to. But I really hope that it’s a massive hit for them.”

Ramin Djawadi and Brandon Campbell explain how scoring for Video Games is different from shows like Game of Thrones

Game of Thrones had some of the best musical scores in television history, thanks to the dedication and hard work of talented artists who made it so enjoyable. Ramin Djawadi and Brandon Campbell, who have composed tunes for shows like Game of Thrones in the past, have moved on to newer projects, and you can listen to their mind-soothing work in The New World video game.

In a recent interview with the Spin, the duo talked about the difference between scoring for a TV show and a video game.

Ramin Djawadi:The big challenge was that in the very beginning, we had no visuals. We had some artwork and some stills, but we had to come up with the sound while the game was being developed. It wasn’t like a movie or television show where you actually have some visuals to write against, so it was definitely a challenge to just start completely from scratch. But talking to the great audio team really helped us immensely with inspiration — just by them describing to us what they needed emotionally from the different areas.”

Brandon Campbell: “I loved the concept art. I think it’s amazing just seeing some of the drawings and renderings the artists had done. But getting this thing off the ground without visuals was [the biggest challenge]. The biggest difference was also that there was just no point when we ended up with a complete video.”

“We might have a developer doing a walkthrough of certain parts of the game or certain areas, but it’s more for inspiration than something to actually score. You’re like, “I’m going to write a three-minute lighthearted adventure piece that takes place in this zone!” or “I’m going to write a scary tension piece that takes place at night in the forest!” but you don’t have to worry about finding the cuts or sync points in the actual video.”

Game of Thrones had some of the best soundtracks in television history, thanks to the creative genius of music composer Ramin Djawadi. He is back with his amazing scores for House of The Dragon, Game of Thrones’ prequel series, and just the teaser trailer was enough to remind the fans why we love his work so much. Djawadi has also composed tunes for the video game The New World, and you can listen to it right below!

Ahead of New World launching on September 28, Amazon Game Studios has revealed that Game of Thrones composers Ramin Djawadi and Brandon Campbell have collaborated to create music for the MMO.

Speaking to NME, Djawadi said the duo agreed to soundtrack New World because it “immediately it caught our attention” and offered the chance to work on a “blank slate

Djawadi said it was “clearly a challenge to come up with a world” that had no existing material. Adding on, Campbell said, “that’s the pro and the con – you get to come up with something completely new, but coming up with something completely new is really hard sometimes”.

Campbell also shared that “One of the hardest things about this was that the world is so vast…how do you use harmonica in one track and then…fiddle and banjo, or just a choir, and still sound like New World?”
