There are times when you spend so much time at a job, it becomes the definition of what you can do. Everyone desires change once in a while. The completion of Game of Thrones was a welcome change in actor Nikolaj Coster-Waldau’s life. While fans still miss the show, the actor, who played Jaime Lannister on the show, revealed in an interview he doesn’t.

Coster-Waldau was in an interview with The Kelly Clarkson Show. He admitted that what he misses most about the show is the friends he made over the period of 9 years while filming it. He said,

I think we’ve told the story. I miss my friends, right? So you spend eight, nine years, almost 10 years together… you make friendships. So I miss them.”

He recalled of his fond memories of some of the younger cast members, including Sophie Turner and Maisie Williams, who played Sansa Stark and Arya Stark respectively.

They were kids when they started out. You have this whole growth… they became young adults on that show.”

Nikolaj further said being on the set was always fun. He added,

It’s an incredible, intense experience. Also, when the show becomes as successful as it did, that’s a whole different challenge, if you will. But inside the bubble, it was always a bit of fun.”

Coster-Waldau talked about some other topics as well. One being his role in the upcoming movie “The Silencing”. He plays the role of a hunter who seeks justice for his murdered daughter. With his set of acting skills, he is sure to shine bright in the movie. He also spoke about his work as a UN Goodwill Ambassador focusing on preventing climate change.

Game of Thrones Showrunners reveal why ‘Beyond the Wall’ storyline really happened

The wall

Game of Thrones season 7 episode 6 Beyond the Wall revolved around the story of some of the show’s prominent characters going beyond the wall to capture a wight. Though the mission was successful, the episode saw the deaths of Thoros of Myr and one of Daenerys’ dragon, Viserion.

The pivotal episode finally led to the convincing of Cersei and all of Westeros into believing in the Army of Dead’s existence. Showrunners David Benioff and D.B. Weiss reveal in the book Fire Cannot Kill a Dragon written by James Hibberd, why the episode was filmed.

Weiss said, “We were talking about breaching the Wall and trying to figure out what pieces we already had on the board without introducing new Deux ex Machina pieces. What was in the world already that could conceivably knock down the Wall? Just getting the Night King past the Wall didn’t do it; just getting the White Walkers past didn’t do it.”

Viserion

He continued, “You needed to get an army of a hundred thousand dead men past the Wall, which means a giant hole. We were racking our brains as to what could do that. Then we realized there would be something massive in the show. They weren’t massive at the time we thought of this – and that was the dragons. But getting a dragon north of the Wall was tricky.”

The idea of getting a wight from the Night King’s territory seemed like a dumb idea. Jon ultimately had to call Daenerys for help. The showrunners also revealed why Game of Thrones ended early in Hibberd’s book.

Cersei Jaime

Game of Thrones reflected real life in more ways than one. Jaime Lannister represented the path to redemption, and his death was an example of how difficult it is to let go of your past. The Kingslayer redeemed himself throughout the series.

Starting as a villain in the show, pushing Bran out of the tower to playing a major role in the fight against the Nightwalkers, Jamie had travelled a long way. Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, who played the character in the fantastical epic, opened up about Jaime’s death in James Hibberd’s book Fire Cannot Kill a Dragon.

Brienne Jaime

You wonder if he’s changed and if he’s escaped the destructive relationship. He’s so bound by this code of honour of family first, and he and Cersei have a strong bond on every level. But he has to go back. She’s all alone. He’s the last one she has. He has to try to save her. It makes sense even though you don’t want it to… It would have been wonderful if he and Brienne could have had a life together. But he says it himself as he’s leaving: ‘Have you ever walked away from a fight?’ I have to do this. The things you do for love…”

Jaime left Brienne of Tarth crying right before Daenerys left to attack King’s Landing. One can only imagine what would have happened if Jaime had stayed with Brienne. How would you have played out the story? Let us know in the comments below!

The world is still shaken up from the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic. The situation is dire in some countries, but people all over the world are slowly trying to get back on their feet. After a long quarantine period of 5 to 6 months, it is hard going back to work. However, Game of Thrones star Rose Leslie seems to be ready to jump right into the action. The actress is gearing up for her new movie Death on the Nile. She has another reason to be excited. Leslie is expecting her first baby with hubby Kit Harington!

In an after-shoot interview with the New York Post, the 33-year-old soon to be mom couldn’t contain her eagerness to see her first child. She said, “I am thrilled to be expecting, and I can’t wait to meet the new member of our family!”

Rose

Leslie spent 7 months in a quarantined break with her spouse Kit Harington. The couple went on a sweet escape to Greece when the UK lifted travel restrictions. “The Grecian sunshine was glorious,” she says. “But I am very, very fair. I wear sunscreen, which is like chalk, and my husband tans. So when we go on holidays, he’s there like a lizard, and I’m under an umbrella.”

The couple seems to be living the time of their lives. Feel free to shower the cute little family with your good wishes in the comments below!
