George R.R. Martin hints at great progress on House of The Dragon production

Game of Thrones author George R. R. Martin has often been in controversies due to his ‘out of the world’ writing style. This time he is in the news again for something else. It is for a lawsuit he filed for the film rights of a werewolf novella.

The complaint was filed at the Los Angeles superior court on Wednesday. According to the complaint, Mike the Pike productions were granted an option to the rights of the film in 2009. The company later assigned the option to Blackstone Manor, LLC., who are the defendant in this case. Blackstone exercised the option on September 2, 2014, which gave them 5 years to start principal photography before the rights went back to Martin.

The complaint states that Blackstone “hastily assembled” a barebones cast and crew. Just a day before the 2019 deadline to shoot “a handful of scenes” to make it appear they were still working on the project, to retain the rights for another 5 years. Martin describes the “token” production was “insufficient”. He compared the move to a “contractor hurriedly building a gazebo in lieu of the agreed-upon skyscraper when faced with a deadline”, as reported by the Los Angeles times.

The skin trade

After the success of Game of Thrones, the writer is sure to have high hopes with any production house that wants to adapt his novel for the screen. The novel was published in 1988 as a part of “Night Vision 5”. It was a horror anthology that also included works of Stephen King and Dan Simmons. The story revolves around a private investigator, Randi Wade, who is looking into a series of brutal killings in her small town. This leads her to the world of werewolves and other demons.

The story won a World Fantasy Award in 1989. What is your perspective about the case? Let us know in the comments below.

Pedro Pascal becomes a superhero in Netflix’s We Can Be Heroes

The year 2020 was a Red Wedding for humanity. In times like these, we often wish for a superhero to have existed in reality. Even though we don’t have superheroes in real life, we do have superhero movies to help us get through tough times. What’s better than seeing our favourite stars donning the cape? Game of Thrones’ Pedro Pascal joins the superhero squad of We Can Be Heroes.

The Spy Kids filmmaker Robert Rodriguez is back with another action-hero-family genre movie. Pedro Pascal, Boyd Holbrook and Christian Slater are members of a superhero squad called Heroics. Priyanka Chopra is the Director of the Heroics. The movie begins with the group kidnapped and their kids left to try to save them. The film will also have a cameo by Sharkboy and Lavagirl, superhero avatars created by Rodriguez in 2005.

Rodriguez has often expressed the desire to work with Pedro. The new movie will follow the same light-hearted comedy and sci-fi fantasy theme as his earlier works. Looks like the year 2020 is finally ending with a good note. (So many Game of Thrones stars appearing on other platforms, and of course, Biden’s win!).

Game of Thrones writer George R.R. Martin updates fans about Winds of Winter

Game of Thrones TV series ended more than a year ago. The final season of the show divided the fan-base into two. One loved it, the other wanted something more. Hardcore fans are still waiting for the next book of the series, The Winds of Winter.

Game of Thrones writer George R. R. Martin recently updated fans about his progress on the upcoming book. He noticed a sudden spike in the number of viewers on his blog Not a Blog, and joked, “Sometimes I do get the feeling that most of you reading my posts here care more about what is happening in Westeros than what is happening in the United States.”

He further wrote, “So let me assure you that, when not sweating out election returns or brooding over other real-world problems, I have continued to work on THE WINDS OF WINTER.

No, sorry, still not done, but I do inch closer. It is a big book. I try not to dwell on that too much. I write a chapter at a time, a page-at-a-time, a sentence at-a-time, a word at-a-time. It is the only way. And sometimes I rewrite.”

Martin explained he has been spending a lot of time with the Lannisters. Cersei and Tyrion in particular. He has also visited Dorne and the Old Town in his book. He is currently writing new chapters, revisiting and tweaking old ones as well.

George wrote, “None of this is even remotely new. It is how the first five books were written.”

The Game of Thrones author is slowly picking up speed. He once gave an example of how the books will be different from the show. Are you excited for The Winds of Winter? Talk to us in the comments below!

Well, aside from COVID-19 slowing everything down, we are making great progress on the HBO prequel HOUSE OF THE DRAGON. Ryan and Miguel are in London, casting has begun, it is all looking very exciting.”

He also talked about his other projects, “I wish I could say that things are also going great on all the other television and film projects I am involved with, either as a producer or as the author of the original source material (i.e. novels and short stories). I can’t. Very little shooting is taking place, and almost nothing is being greenlit. Of course, development continues… but there’s a reason they call it “development hell.” Sigh.

So that’s where all that stands. Or at least, that’s as much as I am allowed to tell you right now. Hang in there, friends.”

The great strides in the progress of the much-awaited series are welcome news for all the fans worldwide. Are you excited for the House of The Dragon? Tell us in the comments below!
