Some dates are more significant in our lives than others. For some, it’s their birthday, or their anniversary, while for some, every day matters. However, some dates define who we are. They represent our upbringing, our roots, our culture, and our nation. Recently, two Game of Thrones actors, Pilou Asbæk and Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, celebrated a similarly important day rather quietly. Read on to find out more!

May 4th marked the 75th year of the freedom for Denmark from the Nazi rule. It was on this day in 1945 that Danish people finally got their independence from the brutal reign of German forces. Both Asbæk and Waldau took to their Instagram and reflected on it.

While Asbæk looked back on the day by thanking the joint forces of the US, the UK, and the Soviet Union. He also pondered over what the future holds for the people in the next 75 years. Check out his post:

Nikolaj, too, felt grateful for the forces that defended Denmark then from Nazi tyranny. He wrote:

“Today we remember and are grateful for the people who stood up and defended our freedom and democracy against the Nazi tyranny. May 4th 1945 ended the darkest years in Denmark.”

Well, isn’t it great to see two co-stars sharing the same history and being grateful for it?  On the work front too Nikolaj’s Danish film got many international deals.
