Maisie Williams talks about her upcoming X-Men film, New Mutants

Published

on

Game of Thrones stars are rocking it in Hollywood now, and Maisie Williams (Arya Stark) is all about that X-Men life. As the release of her next film, New Mutants draws closer, there’s rising anticipation about the film’s performance, being in a weird timeline in the X-Men canon, and the stakes are high with Maisie being in the film. She recently spoke to Screenrant about the film, and some Game of Thrones stuff. Read on!

The film has been postponed multiple times, and the first trailer for the film dropped recently. She was asked if she took advice from Sophie Turner (Sansa Stark) for the role, since Sophie recently had her own stint in the X-Men Universe:

“No, not really… Actually yeah, kind of a little bit. I called her when this was sort of coming about and was chatting to her about potentially signing up for something that’s long-term again and just ask her more questions about it and I always knew I wanted to do something big and long run after the show, but it’s come quite soon, so yeah, just had a lot of questions since she’d already made the leap“

The interviewer pointed out that she’s the seventh Game of Thrones star to star in a Marvel film, to which Maisie replied by saying “Marvel is huge.”

When asked about her accent for the film, Maisie talked about how her Game of Thrones experience affected her playing this part:

“I did a Scottish accent I did more of an Aberdeen Accents in a film that I did a few years ago, so I’d already been a little bit, but my acting coach from Game of Thrones when I was a child when I was a lot younger, she is Scottish, so I just asked her we went back and forth in the phone a few times, but then like this was a lot more bigger a lot more lines I use just the lady that I used on Game of Thrones and what really helpful was she has an app so you can do it when you’re away and you can do it on your own, that’s really been helpful because kind of embarrassing doing in front of someone else because when you do mess up you know it’s bad and they definitely know it’s bad, so it’s quite fun doing it on your own and, yeah, I find it okay. I really like doing accents because I hate my voice, I think it’s really bad it’s the most cringe-worthy voice ever, so I find it really helpful to create a new person as well because while Rahne’s really different to the kids that played before anyway, but off the back of Game of Thrones I find myself playing the same girl not over and over again, but little bit, so it’s nice to do an accent because then you feel like a new person.”

New Mutants hits the theatres 3 April. Are you excited? Talk to us in the comments, down below!

Game of Thrones’ Hafthor Bjornsson wins debut boxing match, sends brutal KO warning to Eddie Hall

Hafthor Bjornsson shows off impressive deadlifting skills after shredding 110 pounds

Game of Thrones’ Hafthor Björnsson (The Mountain) and Eddie Hall have been long-time rivals now, ever since they faced each other in the World’s Strongest Man championship. Their upcoming fight has been dubbed ‘The Heaviest Boxing Match in History’. Every competitive sportsman is involved in taunting their opponent to generate hype for their big event. And the Mountain is full of them for his rival, Hall.

Thor Bjornsson has promised to stop Eddie Hall just like he did Devon Larratt recently when the pair finally fight next year, unless the Brit begins training harder. Bjornsson confirmed during an exclusive chat with Mirror Fighting that the bout will take place in March 2022, with an exact date and venue to be confirmed in the coming months.

Hall, a fellow World’s Strongest Man winner, is still nursing a severe bicep injury that forced him to pull out of the scheduled fight that was supposed to happen in September this year. Instead, Bjornsson took on former arm-wrestling champion Larratt, who despite looking good for a fighter with five weeks of training, was easily defeated within minutes.

Bjornsson, speaking to Mirror Fighting in his role as a Reign Body Fuel ambassador, says he has set his sights solely on his old rival Hall.

“March is the plan as of today,” he said. “Let’s just hope his bicep heals up well as it should and we can do the fight. From what I’ve seen, it doesn’t look promising for him, he has a hard time holding his hands in the right position. He fights with his hands down and leaves his head open and if he does that then it’s going to be a rough night for him, my reach and my jab are going to hurt him. But what he is posting doesn’t mean that he’s going to use that style, maybe he’ll come in with a completely different style, we don’t know, so we just have to wait and see.”

Who will win, Thor Bjornsson or Eddie Hall? Let us know in the comments below!

During the press conference for the film, the director remembered the Rigg’s legacy and paid an emotional tribute to the Game of Thrones alum. “It’s difficult to extricate the movie from working with her now because the thought of the movie was quite interesting, very emotional experience to conceive and make, and now that’s all tied up with the fact that Diana is not with us anymore,” Wright said. “In those situations where it’s desperately sad, I won’t to get to have another gossipy branch with Diana Rigg. The only thing I can take away from it is like how lucky I was to work with her and know her.”

“She’s such a professional and really prided herself on that,” he said. “When we were told that she needed to finish very urgently, we knew what that meant without asking any more. We’re all so incredibly fortunate to have known her and worked with her.”

Diana was an amazing soul and her presence will always be felt in her breathtaking performances. Let us remember the great actress in our thoughts and do leave a comment below!

Kit Harington passed on a superhero role while filming Game of Thrones: ‘I don’t want it'

Kit Harington is a household name today, thanks to his success as Game of ThronesJon Snow. Jon Snow was a selfless, righteousness and brave hero in the series, with a tone of seriousness in his voice. He would almost always relinquish any honours or titles he received in the series, saying, “I don’t want it.” It seems like Kit Harington has said his famous line quite often, off-screen as well.

The former Game of Thrones star told Total Film magazine he passed up on an unknown superhero role while filming for Game of Thrones. He said, “You know, the comic-book and superhero world has called once before, and I didn’t like the role and the part and the time to do it.”

Harington revealed. “So I turned it down. And then this one [in Eternals] felt right to me. I liked that the character they were offering was not necessarily an Eternal. He was human. I did like that. I felt that I could do something with that, that he came with all these human faults. So it was the character that drew me to it, as well as it being the MCU, and how exciting.”

“I won’t mention what it was, but yeah, there was one other [superhero movie] that I did turn down a while ago,” Harington said. “It was a while ago, as well – just because it didn’t feel like the right thing at the right time. And I think I was right to. My head was very in the Jon Snow world then.”

Which superhero role do you think Harington was previously up for? Tell us in the comments below!
