Sophie Turner reveals if she will ever return to Game of Thrones

Visiting familiar old places makes you relive all those bittersweet memories. It can sometimes heal some of the bad ones and recreate a few joyous bits. We have all had such places to go. Game of Thrones is one such place for the cast and crew of the world’s most popular show. One feels that a chance to go back and live there again would be grabbed with both hands. But is it that simple? Sophie Turner (Sansa Stark) spoke to Variety about what it would take for her to return to Westeros while attending the SAG (Screen Actors Guild) Awards 2020.

With the confirmation of House of the Dragon and the buzz about multiple Game of Thrones spin-offs, we are pretty sure that the song of ice and fire will return in one or the other forms. But does Sophie wish to return?

“I would give anything to go back to what we had, but it wouldn’t be the same. It would be different, different people running it. I don’t want to be a part of it. Unless they give me the big bucks, I am not doing it,” Sophie answered. We hope the master of coin is listening.

The cast and crew have been exchanging goodbyes for a while now; and SAG Awards was the last pit-stop in the long awards-season for Game of Thrones. It had three nominations and secured two wins: Outstanding Action Performance by a Stunt Ensemble in a Comedy or Drama Series and Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Drama Series (won by Peter Dinklage!).

Sophie Turner further talked about her absolute favorite day on the set of Game of Thrones:

“The day I really appreciated everything was the very last day on set, and it was the saddest day as well. I walked onto the set of Winterfell in costume for the last time. And I was looking around and I just welled up. I was like ‘This is amazing how empowered I feel to be on this set.’ That was the day I really appreciated but it was also the day that I broke down and didn’t get out of bed for the next three days.”

Although feelings are subjective, it wasn’t easy for anyone on the GoT set to hold back their tears.

“Everyone cried. And everyone cried when other people wrapped as well. The whole season everyone was just blubbing,” Sophie said.

It’s certainly difficult to move on from a piece of work as huge as Game of Thrones. But the Queen in the North carved a big piece of Westeros for herself, and she seems happy keeping it. What do you think? Talk to us in the comments below.

Maisie Williams reveals original plans for Jon Snow in fight against Night King

Game of Thrones amassed one of the highest viewership numbers any show has seen in the past decade. The final season of the series was one of the most awaited programs of 2019. The episode ‘The Long Night’ in which Arya Stark slays the Night King had a viewership of 17.8 million!

It was a shocking turn of events when Arya stabs the Night King, ending his reign of terror forever. However, many of the fans desired for a different way of killing the Night King. A death by the hands of the show’s other protagonist Jon Snow.

Jon and Arya

In an interview with the Hollywood Reporter, Maisie Williams, who played the role of Arya Stark, revealed the original plans for the death of Night King. Everyone, including Kit Harington, who played Jon Snow, believed he would be the one killing the villain. It turns out, the showrunners always had Arya Stark in their mind.

[Kit Harington] expected it to go [Jon Snow’s] way, too, and he even said, ‘It was going to go that way. Someone told me in season three that I was going to kill The Night King,’” Williams shares. “And then, he read the script, and it was Arya the whole time. Yeah, I think it would’ve been too obvious. I’m glad that it was Arya, honestly. I think I had the best storyline of the final season.”

The death of the Night King in the third episode of season 8 was indeed satisfying. Most of the fans hoped it would be Jon Snow because he had the best experience fighting against the White Walkers (someone else was killed by Jon Snow). Arya landing the killing blow was surprising for all the fans worldwide.

Maisie Williams felt pressure “not to say anything stupid” on social media during height of Game Of Thrones fame

Social media has been a part of our lives ever since we’ve had access to Internet. It is a great way of building public image, expressing your thoughts and let others know what you’re doing. Maintaining a positive image is no joke. Especially when you’re as famous as Game of Thrones’ actress Maisie Williams.

In a recent interview with The Telegraph, Maisie revealed the problems she had to face on her rise to fame as Arya Stark. Game of Thrones was a turning point in her life. It brought her fame and fortune one can only dream of. When you’re that famous, you’re constantly being judged, whether you are on or off screen.

Maisie Williams

I was always curious but I didn’t know how to represent myself.” She said, “I was very fearful of being judged and I was too scared to express myself. I have learnt to embrace who I am and have my own opinions and style myself the way that makes me feel good and proud.”

Williams went on to explain about her struggles with experimenting on her style as she grew up. Another creative outlet she is still figuring out is social media. She said, “When I was a teenager, social media was exciting and new and you could invent yourself online. I wanted to share everything like my friends did. Then obviously I got a much larger following, so there was pressure to not say anything stupid.”

Maisie has been coping with online noise from both fans and critics alike, since the tender age of 14. She prefers to learn and be a better person, rather than talk about it on social media. She also debuted on stage with the play I and You.

Maisie Williams says she’s struggling with rejection after Game of Thrones success

There comes a time in everyone’s life when you have to face rejection. It becomes even more difficult if you have been succeeding in the same field earlier. Accepting it without getting discouraged is an important skill not everyone has. Even accomplished actors like Game of Thrones star Maisie Williams find it difficult to deal with.

Maisie Williams achieved stardom as Arya Stark at a very young age of 12. It was only her second audition. After playing the role for 9 years, she was nervous about auditioning again. She realized that she needed to put herself out there if she wanted to grasp new opportunities.

Maisie Williams

It is almost harder because I had never been told no,” she said in an interview with The Telegraph. “The second thing that I ever auditioned for was Game of Thrones, and that launched my career. There’s always competition, it doesn’t matter how much you’ve done, you will always lose out on roles. The industry is built upon rejection.”

Having learned the bitter truth about the film industry, she added, “I’m definitely learning that now – how to overcome the rejection and not see it as a personal thing. But learning to be told no is really difficult as someone who’s an established actor. No one’s got time for you when you’re like, ‘Oh I didn’t get the part in this thing.’ They’re like, ‘You just came off the most successful TV show of the decade, can you hang on a minute?'”

The 23-year-old actress is bound to reach for the stars if she keeps her positivity alive. Williams is learning to adapt to the industry, going after roles that challenge her. She recently starred in a thriller movie “The Owners”.
