Game of Thrones fans shocked after showrunners admit they had no idea what they were doing

Game of Thrones was a well-liked shown for most of its run, with the backlash kicking in only towards the end of the show. Most of this criticism went towards the showrunners and creators of the show, David Benioff and Dan Weiss. The quality of writing declined, and while some thought the criticism was unfair, David and Dan might have just proved otherwise. Read on!

They recently did a panel at the Austin Film Festival revealing a lot of details about the show’s making that paints them as really incompetent showrunners, and the fans are shocked. Before we get into it, shoutout to Twitter user Needle & Pen (@ForArya) who attended the panel and tweeted out the details for the rest of us. Let’s take a look.

First off, they admitted to referring to online resources to aid their work, for the maps, because they were “geographically challenged”. That’s fair, but apparently that’s not all they referred to. The pair admitted to discovering Jason Momoa (Khal Drogo) in a fan casting:

They then discussed their early days with the concept, first off with their pitch to HBO, and then their meeting with George R. R. Martin:

Honestly, at this point, we don’t know either. They talked more about what a disaster the pilot was:

Dan went on to give us a metaphor about how bad they were at their job, and that HBO apparently had to push them into writing more scenes:

They also revealed that they let the actors’ personalities shape the characters, and compromised on faithfulness to the source by removing fantasy elements, even more, to try and expand the appeal to beyond the typical fantasy fans. Then there was a revelation that makes no sense:

Dan also admitted that he did not care for fan feedback, while David was upset by it. Their writing process also seemed to have been very unorganised:

There was a bit of highlight on the diversity problem in there, too, which has been highlighted before.

Now looking at this context, their whole run seems like a joke. A lot of the fans are really angry at this. They tweeted out their furious responses to the very baffling reveals that we got from David and Dan:

Welp. There’s no doubt that this Q&A is going to bring more hate to David and Dan than the show’s decline ever did. You might remember that David and Dan were supposed to appear at the San Diego Comic-Con 2019 panel for Thrones, but pulled out at the last moment. Makes sense now, doesn’t it?

Emilia Clarke calls Game of Thrones Season 8 backlash flattering, again

Game of Thrones stars have been faced with questions about their reactions about the ending of the show, and they don’t seem to stop. Emilia Clarke, who played Daenerys, has had a very positive response before, calling it flattering, and now she’s called it fragile again, in a recent interview. Read on!

Emilia has previously called previously called the Season 8 backlash “profoundly flattering”, and that seems to have become her go-to answer now, when asked about it. She was recently on This Morning to promote her new film, Last Christmas, where she discussed the backlash that Game of Thrones Season 8 received, repeating her previous comments:

“On every level, it’s just profoundly flattering that people genuinely cared that much and they were with us for that long and that they really, truly believed in it.”

She continued:

“I don’t read anything online really because it doesn’t help my brain, but largely speaking I think people are being really kind about Daenerys and Mother Dragon and backing me up, so that’s lovely.

I don’t think there’s an ending that anyone could’ve written. No matter how many signatures were on any bit of paper, you just can’t and that is really just so flattering.”

Well, what do you guys think? Was your backlash supposed to be flattering? Talk to us in the comments, down below!

Would love to play James Bond in case of a gender switch, says Emilia Clarke

Game of Thrones stars have a lot of opportunities going forward, because of how successful the show was. While Emilia Clarke, who played Daenerys, recently said she doesn’t want to do big franchise projects anymore, there seems to be one franchise that could entice her. Read on!

In a recent interview with Empire, Emilia was asked if she would like to step into the role of James Bond, and she had a very positive response:

“Yeah! Of course! Hell to the yeah.”

She continued:

“James Bond is one of those franchises where it’s never not cool. You could literally make the naffest James Bond in the world and it would still be cool.”

Emilia also reflected on the luxuries that her part on Game of Thrones has fetched her, and how it has motivated her to launch her own production house:

“I’ve had the good fortune of being in this incredible show with this incredible character. And, my goodness, if I were to get stereotyped as the mother of dragons, I could ask for worse. It’s really quite wonderful.”

She went on:

“But what it’s left me with — after 10 years of seeing that, and being a part of that, and of doing quite big movies in my hiatuses and all of those things — is a yearning for a different sort of creative ownership.”

What do you guys think? Would you like to see Emilia as Bond? Talk to us in the comments, down below!

Here’s where Emilia Clarke thinks Drogon went at the end of Game of Thrones

Game of Thrones ended with a bad fate for Emilia Clarke‘s Daenerys Targaryen. We saw Drogon fly off with his mother’s corpse, and we have since then had a question: where did Drogon fly off to? Well, Emilia has a theory about that. Read on!

In the series finale of Game of Thrones, we had to see Jon Snow betray Daenerys, and Drogon, late to the party, rage for a while and then simply fly off with a dead Daenerys. Emilia Clarke recently did a lie detector interview with Vanity Fair, which makes for a pretty great watch. Of course, she discussed Daenerys and her fate at the end of Thrones. Watch the full 18 minute video, below:

She was asked about who her favourite dragon of the three dragon children, to which she replied:

“Drogon is kind of like, he’s my oldest boy, who was the first, really. When the three of them came out, I think he came out first.”

She was then asked if she knew where Drogon was headed, to which she had the best response:

“I’d like to think he went to Hawaii. I know there is a specific place where dragons go [that’s in the books]. Otherwise he’s just roaming the seas. Crying.”

Well, if only Bran the Broken could verify this. What do you guys think? Talk to us in the comments, below!
