Game of Thrones prequel update: new logos on signboards, filming in Marble Arch Cave, and more

Published

on

Game of Thrones ended but has opened up new possibilities for the prequel series with the working title ‘Bloodmoon‘ whose pilot filming is under progress. While the last week we reported the cast and crew members gathering in Belfast for filming, today we bring you more new updates regarding the production of the new series, featuring some exclusive images.

First of all, for the ones who are already familiar with the ‘pink’ signboards Game of Thrones originally used for guiding the cast members to the filming locations, new signboards have emerged in Belfast this time orange in colour and with a new logo of mammoths. We’ve already seen a mammoth in the Wildling Army during the episode ‘The Watchers on the Wall’ in Season 4, and this logo suggests that we will definitely see more of them in the new series. Take a look:

Secondly, the Marble Arch Caves of Northern Ireland will reportedly remain closed for the filming of the prequel. Here are some of the photos:

Titanic Studies of Northern Ireland, Belfast serve as a prime location for the filming of Game of Thrones. While construction around the set was evident the last month, more and more set pieces have started in and around similar to what we saw for Season 8 of Game of Thrones, while it was under production. Here are a few photos:

Lastly, a source reported sightings of the crew and a few vanity vans around the Antrim Coast of Northern Ireland. It looks like Antrim Coast will also serve as a major filming location for the ‘Bloodmoon’ TV series. Check out these photos:

As months pass and we approach towards the end of the year, more and more updates on the filming and the cast and the crew will surely surface. Yet these quick updates are surely an easy way to get through what some fans weren’t expecting from the final season of Game of Thrones. We really hope the ‘Bloodmoon’ requel series lives up to the hype.

Game of Thrones prequel House of The Dragon is one of the high priority projects at HBO currently. The production is moving swiftly despite hitting some minor obstacles along the way, as indicated by the regular leaks occurring all over the internet. Recently, some never-before-seen photos from the set were leaked by Daily Mail Online, providing the fans with a first look at Graham McTavish’s armour in the prequel series. Several other members of the cast were spotted as well.

This time, the cast and the crew were spotted filming at Derbyshire, England on Friday. McTavish was seen donning a full battle armour riding a horse. There have been no confirmations about his role yet, and the pictures were not clear enough to actually guess what House does he belong to.

Olivia Cooke was seen wearing a period costume similar to one once worn by Natalie Dormer as Margaery Tyrell on Game of Thrones. She’s inside a horse-drawn carriage. Cooke plays Queen of Westeros Alicent Hightower in House of The Dragon.

Milly Alcock, who will play a younger version of Princess Rhaenyra Targaryen in the Game of Thrones prequel, was also spotted on set. She appeared to be bidding farewell to a motion capture device that looked like the head of a dragon.

New Set Photos from House of The Dragon provide a glimpse of Steve Toussaint as Corlys Velaryon

House of The Dragon resumes production after COVID shutdown

Game of Thrones prequel House of The Dragon is fast on track for its release in 2022. Last week, the crew was spotted filming at various sites in Cornwall. The show’s stars Matt Smith and Emma D’Arcy were seen filming on Holywell Beach in costume. Some more photos were leaked, later on, providing a glimpse at another important character, Lord Corlys Velaryon.

The Daily Mail recently published photos of the cast and crew preparing for a busy day of shooting in Cornwall. The leaked photos provide the very first look at Steve Toussaint as Corlys Velaryon. Also, the filming that day took place at St. Michael’s Mount, which is very likely the set for Driftmark, the home base for House Velaryon.

In other photos, Matt Smith was seen wrapped up in a padded black jacket that covered his black ensemble. He was covered up with his coat to protect it from the rain as he walked to and from the set. His mid-length wig was pulled into a half-back hairdo.

Emma D’Arcy wore a long crimson gown to portray Princess Rhaenyra. She was also covered up with a large overcoat to keep herself warm from the bracing wind. With all the characters clad in black/dark colours, with a sizable group gathered, it may have been for a funeral. Possibly for the sarcophagus seen that day on set.

Game of Thrones’ Lena Headey to star and produce AMC's 'Beacon 23’

Fantasy is a blissful escape from bleak reality. The COVID-19 pandemic is on the rise again, and the world economy is in ruins. People rely on the fantastical world to take a break from everything that’s going on. Game of Thrones was one such happy escape that kept fans entertained for nearly a decade. No wonder it was voted as the greatest TV show of the 21st century. Actress Lena Headey is one of the biggest names from the cast of the show. The veteran actress is back to the small screen with the sci-fi series Beacon 23.

Game of Thrones’ Lena Headey to star and produce AMC's 'Beacon 23’

Serving as one of the lead characters, Headey will star as Aster. A woman who mysteriously becomes a beacon keeper on a remote lighthouse. She is also set to executive produce through her production company, Peephole Productions.

Based on the book of the same name by Hugh Howey, Beacon 23 follows Halan and Aster as they find themselves trapped at the end of the known universe as beacon keepers. They are responsible for ensuring the safe passage of ships in the 23rd century. Unable to tell if the other is trustworthy, a tense battle of wills unfolds at the edge of space. Howey’s series has five entries, so there is plenty of content and inspiration to draw from for the new small-screen adaptation.
