Issac Hempstead Wright initially thought Bran Stark becoming the King was a prank

Game of Thrones ended with a twist that none of us saw coming. Daenerys Targaryen, who was expected to sit on the Iron Throne, was killed by Jon Snow, who was also expected to sit on the Iron Throne. In the end, Bran Stark became the King. Nobody expected this ending, and it was so far from the most supported theories that even Issac Hempstead Wright, who played Bran, himself thought it was a prank when he initially read the script. Read on!

Speaking of his initial reaction to the script to Entertainment Weekly, Issac said:

“When I got to the [Dragonpit scene] in the last episode and they’re like, ‘What about Bran?’ I had to get up and pace around the room.

I genuinely thought it was a joke script and that [showrunners David Benioff and Dan Weiss] sent to everyone a script with their own character ends up on the Iron Throne. ‘Yeah, good one guys. Oh s—, it’s actually real?’”

He said he was happy with the ending, however:

“Though I kind of did want to die and get in one good death scene with an exploding head or something.”

Issac also thinks Bran will be a good King:

“I think he’ll be a really good king actually. Perhaps there will be something missing in having real emotive leader, which is a useful quality in a king or queen as well. At the same time, you can’t really argue with Bran. He’s like, ‘No, I know everything.’”

Issac also said that he was very much enjoying the ending now:

“I just want to shout: ‘King motherf—ers!’ Though that’s probably not a wise plan, obviously.”

How do you guys feel about Bran Stark becoming the King?

Fabulous twist! It’s all so logical now. Was soooo glad Dany was the only death in the end. Love it more each time I watch. Drogon is the boss!

George R. R. Martin discusses Brexit and what it could mean for Northern Ireland's showbusiness

As most of you might know, Game of Thrones was possible because of its strong production, the home base of which was set up in Belfast, Northern Ireland. The Game of Thrones prequel series seems to have kept the affinity to Northern Ireland. However, a potential political move might change how ripe Northern Ireland’s showbusiness is, and that is none other than Brexit. In a recent interview, author George R. R. Martin discussed Brexit and what it could mean for Northern Ireland’s flourishing film industry. Read on!

The Belfast Telegraph reports that George was speaking at ‘Return to Winterfell: An evening with George R. R. Martin’ event at Castle Ward in Strangford. Speaking of Northern Ireland and its entertainment industry, he said:

“You look at other shows out there and you can still go to New York City and do the Seinfeld tour, and that ended 10 years ago. If the new shows also shoot here then that will reinforce it, certainly.

I keep hearing about Brexit and what effect is it going to have? Is there going to be a hard border? Is there going to be a return to violence? If people are reading in the newspapers about people being blown up or shot then tourism is going to go right in the toilet, so you can’t go back to that.”

He said that the tax incentives were a big part of Northern Ireland’s appeal as a filming location:

“Money from film and television is often very good for a city or country and there’s a lot of people that want it so they offer various tax incentives to go here or there.

We chose Northern Ireland for a variety of these reasons, but one of them was that we got a very attractive deal from Peter Robinson and Martin McGuinness. They flew together to Hollywood and made the pitch to HBO and offered a very attractive package of tax incentives.

If that future package is still there for future shows, it will work.”

Well, let’s hope Northern Ireland is able to hold on to those sweet deals. What do you guys think? Talk to us in the comments, down below!

Natalia Tena (Osha) hated the Game of Thrones ending so much that she ranted for an hour!

The Game of Thrones series finale divided fan opinion like never before and was heavily criticized for its writing. With the huge impact the show has had on popular culture, its no wonder people have strong opinions, and that includes the show’s stars. Natalia Tena, who portrayed the wildling Osha until Season 6 is one.

Speaking on Yahoo’s White Wine Question Time podcast, Tena revealed that the ending left her so enraged that her boyfriend left the houseboat they were sharing at the moment to escape her rants!

Describing the experience, Tena said, “I was a few glasses of wine in when I watched it. I’d binge-watched the whole thing, but I ended up… my boyfriend had to leave the boat because I was ranting for an hour at him about how much I didn’t like it. And then I rang my friend to rant to him.”

Game of Thrones series finale left a huge portion of viewers angry, particularly on account of the writing.

Tena revealed that she liked the story up until the point when Arya kills the Night King, but it all went downhill from there. Like many fans, she holds the writing of the last few episodes to blame. In her words,

“I liked it to the bit where she [Arya] stabs him [the Night King] in the heart. I liked it up to then. But after that, I just feel like… I just didn’t understand. The calibre of writing towards the end and the plots and everything that happens and how they wrapped it up compared to any other season, any other bit, it just feels like it’s been written by different people. It doesn’t make sense, for me.”

Tena, however, doesn’t hold with petitioning to remake the final season, as some disgruntled fans are doing. She said,

“It’s done. I don’t think I’d go as far as a petition. I think they had to end it. [But] I don’t understand why they made those choices.”

A large section of the fans shares the same confusion, still. What do you guys think? Talk to us in the comments, down below!

This is how Sophie Turner (Sansa Stark) thought Game of Thrones would end

This is how Sophie Turner (Sansa Stark) thought Game of Thrones would end

Whether you liked or hated it, there’s no denying the ending of Game of Thrones came as a shock. A lot of theories went down the drain, and a lot of expectations were quashed – including Sophie Turner’s. In an interview with The Wrap, Sophie revealed that her dream ending would have been very different, particularly in regard to Cersei Lannister’s death.

When asked if she had a dream ending in mind, Sophie promptly said: “I thought Arya would kill Cersei. And I would like to have seen Sansa and Cersei reunited, or Arya and Cersei.”

Sophie’s character Sansa had a particularly nasty bit of history with Cersei, and a final face-off between the two of them would surely have been satisfying. Arya had had Cersei on her ‘hit list’ since Season 2, and when Melisandre’s prophecy about ‘blue eyes’ came true in Season 8 Episode 3 ‘The Long Night’, many thought Arya’s next target is sure to be the green-eyed Lannister queen.

But that bit turned out very differently, as Cersei was crushed to death by the crumbling Red Keep – her own seat of power.

Sophie, however, is not complaining. Sansa being crowned Queen in the North is an amazing conclusion to all her trials and tribulations, and Sophie echoes that sentiment when she says, “I felt very passionately about the ending for Sansa, and I was very happy with the ending that turned out for her.”
