"I would just nod and smile," says Emilia Clarke about keeping Daenerys' Mad Queen twist secret for two years

Game of Thrones has had a history of plot twists that go completely against our expectations, and that happened again in the latest episode, Season 8, Episode 5, “The Bells“, as Daenerys Targaryen went the Mad Queen way, and burnt down King’s Landing to a crisp. Apparently, Emilia Clarke, who plays Daenerys, had known the twist for two years and kept it a secret. Read on!

At The National Multiple Sclerosis Society’s Stop MS fundraising appeal in London, Emilia talked about keeping the twist a secret:

“People have always come up to me and told me how much they love Daenerys. And two years ago I got the script for this series and knew what was going to happen to her. Every time someone would come up to me and say, ‘I love her!’ inside, I was thinking, ‘Well you’re not going to love her for long!'”

She continued:

“It was so hard to keep it a secret. I would just nod and smile, and that’s why I had this sort of furrowed-eyebrow expression a lot of the time. My eyebrows would sort of curl up.”

Emilia Clarke understands why fans were p***ed over Daenerys’ fate in Season 8 finale

It has been 2 years, and it is still the hot topic of several online debates amongst fan communities across the internet. The controversial final season of Game of Thrones. Some of the fans were so disappointed that they petitioned for a rewrite of the final season. Some actors, like Charles Dance, even agreed to sign it. Even the mother of dragons understands and agrees with the viewers. Actress Emilia Clarke, who played Daenerys Targaryen on the show, was especially sad about the downfall of her character.

Clarke told Josh Horowitz on the Happy Sad Confused podcast, “I get it. I get why people were p***ed. I totally get it. But me being the actor, you can’t do justice to the character that you’ve poured your blood, sweat and tears into for a decade without getting on the same page. Do you know what I mean? So like, I’m not going to be there being like, “Fine, I’ll do the scene, whatever. So p***ed.”

Emilia explained that as an actor, regardless of where the story leads, ‘you have to turn up’.

“You have to turn up and you have to… because why? Because you’re doing it for you and you’re doing it for her and you’re doing it for the show and you’re doing it for the storytelling. So, I’m an actor. I get given a story and I need to tell that story,” she said.

Emilia is currently writing her own comics, and hopefully, she’ll give an ending to this character she had hoped for Dany. Do you agree with Emilia? Talk to us in the comments below!

Aquaman and Game of Thrones star Jason Momoa gets candid about Justice League Snyder Cut

Jason Momoa’s movie the Aquaman was a huge success for the DCEU (DC Extended Universe). The movie made huge profits and was applauded by fans all over the world. Aquaman was earlier regarded as a lame, fish-talking hero with little to no use. The character was made fun of by many comic book fans across the world. However, with the introduction of Game of Thrones’ Jason Momoa as the titular hero, everything changed. Aquaman is now one of the coolest heroes in the DC roster, thanks to Momoa.

Momoa has always been an ardent supporter of Zack Snyder and his vision for the DCEU. He talked to Jimmy Fallon of The Tonight Show about how happy he was when Snyder’s dream came to life. He said:

I love Zack, and that’s kinda what I signed up for eight years ago, is to have his vision. The cool thing about that four-hour piece is that I didn’t reshoot anything. That was all there. It’s so interesting when people come up to me and they’re like ‘Oh, I really love this, and it’s so detailed, and it explains so much,’ and I’m like ‘Yeah, that’s what we went and shot, I didn’t have to redo anything.”

He continued, “So because of the tragedy, I’m happy we made one, but I’m really happy that we got to release his art, and a lot of fans are happy. The truth of it is I like the four hours, it’s just a four-part series. So I like the extended and spending time with the characters.”

Momoa also lost a friendly match of Water War against the host recently. What do you think of the Snyder Cut? Tell us in the comments below!

In an interview with Vulture, he said, “I auditioned for Game of Thrones seven times! Loads of times. I auditioned for Renly, Loras, some of the members of the Night’s Watch. And I’d always get so close! I’d be like, “Guys, just give me a sword!” [Laughs.] Everyone was going in for those parts. But you know, it’s funny about those things.”

You’re up for so many things, and coming from those auditions, and testing on other shows, I had more experience, more experience with the process. And maybe I was more confident. And I don’t know, something about this one just felt right. This part felt different. I knew this character. And felt a connection with him. I knew where he had come from.”
