Game of Thrones gets a new title sequence with Season 8

After a wait of nearly two years, Game of Thrones Season 8 premiered today. The episode had a lot of great moments, but we didn’t have to wait to get into the middle of it to get hyped. The opening sequence is enough to get our hearts racing. This time around, we have a revamped opening credits sequence! Read on!

HBO has gone all out on Game of Thrones Season 8. There was no way they wouldn’t have updated the title sequence, which is one of the most iconic things about the show. Check out the brand new title sequence, below:

You might have noticed that the title sequence has been entirely remade. Usually, there are just some minor changes. We start off with the Wall, and the giant hole in it. The colours have changed, and we see winter seeping into the North with the colours changing. As we know, everything revolves around Winterfell and King’s Landing now, and the title sequence reflects this. Instead of the usual traversal of all the locations, we actually see the field of view go into the interiors of Winterfell and King’s Landing.

We also got a look at Last Hearth, the seat of the Umbers, the crypts of Winterfell, and best of all, the Throne Room.

Winterfell prepares for war in the trailer for Game of Thrones Season 8 Episode 2

Avatar

Game of Thrones Season 8 just premiered, and as tradition goes, the preview was the second episode was released immediately after the episode. A lot happened in the season premiere, and a lot more seems to be lined up for us, in the next episode, so SPOILER ALERT! Let’s take a look:

There’s a lot going on in this 50 seconds promo. We saw Jaime Lannister arrive in Winterfell at the end of the last episode. Bran is the first person he sees. Looks like he now stands for what seems like a soft trial, in front of Daenerys, who is reminding him that her father was the King that he slew. We then see the conflict between Sansa and Daenerys grow, and Arya says her line about wanting to see this face of death, which we had first heard in the trailer. Winterfell prepares for battle, because as we know, the big battle will be in the third episode of the season.

The episode airs next week, on the 21st of April.

Have you watched the Season 8 premiere yet? How did you like it? Looking forward to episode 2? Talk to us in the comments, down below!

British Army and Night's Watch team up to promote Game of Thrones Season 8

Game of Thrones is one of the biggest TV phenomena to have ever occurred. It is no surprise that the show is getting a big round of promotions for the Season 8 release, worldwide. The latest promotional stunt for the release comes from from the UK. The British Army and the Night’s Watch teamed up to promote the Season 8 release. Read on!

This arrangement was made by Sky Atlantic, the British television network that airs Game of Thrones in the UK, in a partnership with the British Army. The Army’s Coldstream Guards played their own rendition of the Game of Thrones theme tune, with the Night’s Watch demonstrated an army formation. It’s all a very cool and British attempt.

The performance took place at the Tower of London, with the visitors and tourists getting a surprise. Apparently, this whole staging was worth two months of work on the choreography, which deserves a lot of praise. The costumes that were worn by the actors also took 10 weeks to make, with a team of experts working on the whole shindig, reports Campaign.

Richard Maddocks, Coldstream Guards sergeant major commented:

“We play all over the world at all sorts of concerts and events, but this was genuinely a career highlight for all of us. It’s a favorite TV programme of many of ours, [which] made it an extra-special experience.”

Director of programmes at Sky Entertainment UK and Ireland, Zai Bennett also weighed in:

“It has been a groundbreaking seven years and the Sky Atlantic team are as excited about what’s in store as the millions of fans and Sky Atlantic viewers who will be tuning in to discover the outcome of the final battle between the living and the dead.”

The Cast Remembers: Stars ruminate on a decade of shooting Game of Thrones

The Cast Remembers Stars Ruminate on a Decade of Shooting Game of Thrones

Emilia Clarke fell off a horse and cried in front of the whole crew on her first day of shooting. Kit Harington’s most memorable scene to shoot was the day he first met “Ygritte” AKA now-wife Rose Leslie. Maisie Williams had the most fun throwing pigeon pie at Sophie Turner on her first day on Game of Thrones. And the one thing Peter Dinklage hates about the show is that everybody expects him to be wittier than he really is, thanks to Tyrion’s wry sense of humour.

HBO has released 13 videos of various Game of Thrones actors talking about their decade-long attachment with the show, and it was a powerful trip down memory lane for all of us fans. You can access the full playlist here:

The short videos, shot in an interview format, had the stars talking about life during Thrones, their finest days, favourite scenes, favourite people to work with, and much more. Apart from the aforementioned, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, Lena Headey, Iain Glen, Sophie Turner, Isaac Hempstead Wright, Liam Cunningham and John Bradley are part of the interview series.

The ten years of Game of Thrones has been an incredible journey for us all, but none more so than the cast. Some – like Maisie, Sophie, and Isaac – went from pre-teens to adults, and some of them (Emilia, Kit, John) literally learnt how to face the camera and build their careers here. The veterans on the other hand (Lena, Peter, Nikolaj) gushed about having such rich material to work with.

But there is one thing every cast member speaks of gaining – a family. Maisie and Sophie had a common favourite day of shooting – when they reunited in Season 7. Emilia stated she still couldn’t imagine not seeing Peter or Natalie (Emanuel) every day. All of them made some friends for life and learnt a lot about themselves as well. The camaraderie would be hard to replace when they move on to other projects.

Well, that’s what a truly well-rounded and satisfying experience should sound like. Now its left for the viewers and us fans to judge if the final season leaves us with something similar.
