HBO and Insight Editions will release 4 new Game of Thrones books in 2019

Game of Thrones is now less than a month away and the way insane battles have been teased, I’m getting a vibe we aren’t getting a second trailer. HBO definitely wouldn’t want to give away much of the stuff ahead of April. Though this may be a weird marketing strategy, HBO wouldn’t want fans to lose hope. This is why they recently announced Game of Thrones 2019 Publishing Program in collaboration with Insight Editions.

Some fans might wonder that this might be related to George RR Martin‘s new book in-line the Winds of Winter – the new installment to ‘A Song of Ice and Fire’ series. So we confirm that this is a completely new set of 4 signature books by Insights Editions to commemorate the era-defining hit television series Game of Thrones.

According to Raoul Goff, founder and publisher at Insight Editions,

“We’ve been faithful fans of Game of Thrones for many years and have enjoyed a fruitful partnership with HBO for nearly just as long…We’re thrilled to be able to participate in the grand farewell of one of the greatest TV shows ever made.”

The award-winning entertainment publisher has announced four books to be included in the program include:

  1. Game of Thrones: The Storyboards by William Simpson, lead storyboard artist for Game of Thrones.
  2. The Art of Game of Thrones
  3. The Photography of Game of Thrones by Helen Sloan, the principal unit photographer for Game of Thrones.
  4. Game of Thrones: The Costumes by costume designer Michele Clapton.

Game of Thrones: The Storyboards

Releasing in Spring 2019, the book is priced at $60 and you can pre-0rder it right now. William Simpson has compiled a collection of behind-the-scenes pivotal moments and conceptual artworks which ultimately made their way to the TV series. This book will be a guide to all artistic developments brought about the series ranging from the Iron Throne to the newly built Dragonstone set.

The Art of Game of Thrones

Filled with gorgeous illustrations and artworks from Game of Thrones, this book gives you a picture of the amount of hard work put in together by artists who’ve worked to make the series one of a kind during its era. This book will be released at the fall of 2019 and will be available at a price of $75. Described as “a multitude of fascinating and beautifully rendered images and previously unpublished works of art”, this book is surely for you if you’re interested in finding out how thousands of artists worked hard every season for 9 years to bring life to the fictional world of Westeros to life.

The Photography of Game of Thrones

Photography on Game of Thrones is the basics Helen Sloan has been putting into series since Season 1. Every frame, the perfect angle, and clicks, the Photography of Game of Thrones drives you off to the most iconic shots and stills taken from the series. Priced at $75  and with a release date of fall of 2019, this book will give you an exclusive look at some of your favourite characters and moments with splendid detailing. According to the official press release, this book “captures in striking detail the scope and nuance of the show, celebrating a world of iconic characters, shocking moments, breathtaking locations, and much more.”

Game of Thrones: The Costumes

If you’ve been a great fan of the costumes used on Game of Thrones, then this book is truly for you. This book, priced at $75 and to be released by the fall of 2019, will feature an imminent collection of back-stage work done by artists to design the attires on Game of Thrones. From the cloaks of the North to the Crimson Red gowns Cersei Lannister wore in Game of Thrones, this book will feature beautifully detailed photographs of the costumes and behind-the-scenes details. The hard work put together by the Emmy-winning costume designer Michele Clapton has compiled in this book.

More information related to all four books will be revealed by HBO and Insight Editions soon. Till then we shall wait till April 14 for the Final Season of Game of Thrones, which has totally been hyped up by teasers and promotional photos.

George R. R. Martin confirms the existence of 17 dragons in House of The Dragon

Game of Thrones prequel House of The Dragon is one of HBO’s most ambitious projects yet. The show will be showing the events from the time when Targaryens were flourishing in Westeros, and so were their dragons, about 300 years ago. In a recent discussion with House of The Dragon showrunner Ryan J. Condal and David Mendel on their podcast, The Stuff Dreams are Made of, Game of Thrones creator George R. R. Martin confirmed the existence of 17 dragons on the show, at least in the first season.

George R. R. Martin confirms the existence of 17 dragons in House of The Dragon

Ryan Condal’s and David Mandel’s podcast about movie and television prop collecting has returned after a mid-season break, and it starts with a bang as Condal recruits none other than George R. R. Martin to discuss his own history as a collector, as well as just a wee bit of discussion of House of the Dragons at the end. Fans should find this one pretty interesting, in particular George’s feelings regarding the ideal adapters of his work going forward.

Discussion of Game of Thrones and House of the Dragon related matter begins around the 1 hour, 18-minute mark. If we will have 17 dragons out of the 21 that exist in the Dance of the Dragons period, we will possibly not see wild dragons in Season 1. Like Gray Ghost and Cannibal.

Targaryens and Velaryons

Filming for Game of Thrones prequel House of The Dragon is moving very swiftly, as evident from the frequent leaks we’re witnessing with every passing day. Though HBO has been mum about revealing any more info about the show, these periodic leaks are causing waves of excitement amongst the fans, as they’re left wondering and speculating who’s who in the new set pictures. Fans have been wondering for a while about some of the key characters that have not been announced yet. Recently, a few more pictures were leaked, depicting the Targaryen and Velaryon families gathering up for a meet.

Recently a couple of pictures were leaked by House of The Dragon Brasil’s Twitter handle that showed a huge crowd of cast and crew getting ready for a scene. Several white/silver wigs were spotted, and though the faces are not clear because of the distance, we can make out a few characters who are present at the site.

Some of the key characters present on the set are Rhaenys Velaryon (Eve Best), Rhaenyra Targaryen (Milly Alcock), Alicent Hightower (Emily Carey) and Matt Smith (Daemon Targaryen). There are more wigged characters as well, but their face is not visible, but we can safely assume they might be Targaryens as well.

The filming for Game of Thrones prequel House of The Dragon is moving at a really swift pace, as shown by the frequent leaks that we’re witnessing every day. The more pictures we see, the more it gets clear that HBO is going to go deep into the Dance of the Dragons storyline, and cover more chapters from the books than we initially expected. More pictures from the set were leaked recently by The Daily Mail, and these new pictures provide a clearer perspective of Daemon Targaryen’s costume.

The newest photos show House of The Dragon star Matt Smith in Daemon Targaryen’s attire talking to a crew member. It seems like he was taking a break from shooting in some of these photos, spending some time playing with a puppy close to a house.

There are also some pictures of the shoot, one of them shows Matt Smith walking down a beach, and the cast and crew members discussing an important scene on the beach at a distance. We can spot some more Targaryens, by looking at the wigs they are wearing, they might be Emma D’Arcy as Rhaenyra Targaryen and Matt Smith himself.
