Kit Harington is all set to host an episode of Saturday Night Live in April

Game of Thrones Season 8 is coming on April 14 and as the trailer has given us a glimpse, I’ll tell you what’s actually coming: lots and lots of bloodsheds, multiple character deaths, and much more. Yet, since we’re only a month away from Game of Thrones Season 8, we’ve brought you great news especially if you’re a big fan of Kit Harington. The great news is that Kit is all scheduled to host an episode of Saturday Night Live in April this year.

Harington, according to the latest announcement by Saturday Night Live will be hosting this episode of the show on April 6th which is exactly eight days prior to the new season of Game of Thrones premiering on April 14. Moreover, apart from him, the Oscar nominee Emma Stone will also be getting the April 13th episode to host. This news was announced by Saturday Night Live via their Twitter handle recently.

This isn’t the first time a Game of Thrones cast member has been given an opportunity to host an episode of SNL. Only three months ago, Jason Momoa – whose character Khal Drogo has been long dead in Game of Thrones had hosted an episode premiered on December 8, 2018. His show was quite a gig with lots of callbacks from Game of Thrones – Joffrey, Lady Ollena, Brienne, and especially with him offering Viserys’ Golden Crown to the much-hated High Sparrow.

Talking about Game of Thrones, Jon Snow has already become a major rival of Khal Drogo by taking his place as the new love interest of Daenerys Targaryen. And, this time it’s on Saturday Night Live. We absolutely have no idea about how things will work on or get messed up when Jon and Dany find out about their aunt-nephew relationship, yet we can expect the April 6th episode of Saturday Night Live to be a gig too with Kit Harington hosting it.

We’ll sure be getting more updates on Kit’s episode of SNL – a teaser, promotional photo, or much more. And about Game of Thrones, just a month seems to be an eternal wait. But, all we can do is wait till the month for both these gigs.

Jason Momoa (Khal Drogo) to play a cameo in Cliffhanger's reboot with a female lead

Everyone loves a cliffhanger. We might get an itch to know things beforehand, but there is excitement in watching something unravel with pure uncertainty. Game of Thrones was a series of cliffhangers that led us through eight seasons, always on the edge, finally concluding with the much-debated ending. Another thing that strikes us when we hear that word is the 1993 film, Cliffhanger. Starring Sylvester Stallone, it was an action ride through the mountains that kept us on the edge of our seats till the end. We can now get ready to range the mountains again as a reboot is in the works. It will have a female lead and a cameo by Jason Momoa, who played Khal Drogo on Game of Thrones.

The new film started its course last year from Cannes Marché du Film (a global film market), as reported by Deadline. It went underway with Ana Lily Amirpour donning the director’s hat, Sascha Penn writing the script; and Rocket Science and Original Film producing the film. The hunt for a female lead is still on while there seems to be a definite cameo by Jason Momoa; confirmed by his Instagram post. The shooting was supposed to begin in spring this year, but it’s postponed, we guess, due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

Ana Lily Amirpour also confirmed her involvement with the project with an Instagram post last year. The Iranian-American filmmaker made her debut with the successful film, ‘A Girl Walks Home Alone At Night’ in 2014. She has worked with Momoa before in her second film, The Bad Batch; which also starred Keanu Reeves and Jim Carrey.

Ana Lily had said some interesting things about the movie. “We are setting out to create a thrill ride on the mountain which taps into the primal side of an action movie, where you see what a person is capable of doing to survive in the most extreme situations, pushed to the limits. Add to that a high-stakes espionage and a badass female mountain climber as the lead and it becomes a truly epic reinvention of what made the original Cliffhanger movie so fun and so thrilling.”

The description really sounds like something to “hold on” to. We feel certain that Jason Momoa would fit right in with the rugged, sharp adventures of the film. It’s perfectly in line with other amazing things lined up for Momoa such as Aquaman 2; which is on the way and set for a December 2022 release. And a rumored role in Spider-Man. Keep going Jason, is all we have to say!

Donate to Emilia Clarke’s CoVID-19 relief fund and get a chance to join her for a virtual dinner!

Coronavirus has spread throughout the world faster than any other known disease in recent times. Although the mortality is not very high, its huge transmission rate is alarming! With each passing day, it’s becoming more and more difficult for governments to contain the sheer impact of the numbers. During these testing times, people from all walks of life are chipping in with their helpful donations. These are going to the relief funds so as to help make more space for coronavirus patients. Amidst this, Game of Thrones star Emilia Clarke (Daenerys Targaryen) has made an appeal to her followers on Instagram. It’s an appeal to donate to her charity SameYou’s COVID-19 relief fund. And as a token of gratitude, she will have a virtual-dinner with twelve of those donors, selected randomly.

Emilia shared a video message on Instagram. She asked for people’s help to raise a sum of £250,000 for SameYou’s COVID-19 relief fund. But there is an attached value in the help, apart from the blessings of those in distress. “When you donate, you can click on a link, and that will be a randomized process. And twelve lucky people will join me virtually. We’re going to put together a store cupboard dinner. We’ll cook it and eat it together. And we’ll discuss lots of things; isolation, fear, and funny videos, and the fact that I can’t really cook. So, it’s going to be fun, it’s gonna be interesting,” Emilia said.

As you might recall, SameYou is Emilia’s organization that helps in the rehab of people who recover from brain injuries. She talked about how SameYou’s relief fund will help the patients of COVID-19 and those with brain injuries as well. “We have to create more beds for the NHS (National Health Service) to take care of COVID-19 sufferers. And when you’re doing that, the brain injury survivors are leaving the hospital early, as we all have to do at this time. So, they need somewhere to go. With our partners in America, Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital and our partners in England, UCL, we’re creating a virtual rehab clinic; so that brain injury survivors have somewhere to go, somewhere to feel safe, not alone and isolated.”

Game of Thrones stars have been infected too, with Kristofer Hivju (Tormund) testing positive, followed by Indira Varma (Ellaria Sand) who actually performed with Emilia Clarke on-stage days before testing positive.

Clarke founded SameYou as part of her own journey after recovering from two brain aneurysms during the early years of Game of Thrones. It’s a good thing that her charity is doing for the patients and healthcare workers during these times of global crisis; plus there’s the dinner with the mother of dragons. So, it’s a package deal then! Go on and donate if you can.

The dog who played Bran Stark's direwolf (Summer) pup passes away due to cancer

The blend of fantasy and reality that Game of Thrones created on-screen was so magical that we would forget that many such things don’t exist in our world. Direwolves were one of those things. Although dire wolves (actual species) have long been extinct in the real world, we have Northern Inuit dogs that are crossbred and look like wolves. One such dog, Odin who played Bran Stark’s direwolf, Summer as a pup in the first season has passed away. It’s sad news for the fans of Game of Thrones during this time of crisis for the world due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Our family are at immense heartbreak to announce that Odin passed away early this morning. It’s difficult to put into words how this has impacted us as a family for Odin lead a life like no other dog. Odin was a family member first and we got him when he was a pup at 7 weeks old all we wanted were big dogs to take hiking and to sleep at our feet in the evening beside the fire, everything after that was a bonus. Odins passing marks the end of a decade and the end of an era as he taught our friends and family a lot of lessons about life for one dog he has more stories to tell than some people would. Odin has far too many achievements to announce in this post but just look at our social media pages over the past 5 years and see. We can all take great comfort in knowing that he is forever immortalised in the great TV Show Game of Thrones as Summer Bran Starks Direwolf Pup in Season 1 episode 1 . To everyone that was lucky enough to meet him and put a smile on your face please remember that moment. It’s an incredible piece of luck to have a pet you love so well become world famous and touch so many peoples hearts. He was always fond of the beach and his favourite treats which he had almost everyday before his passing. He was met with further illness as the week continued and the vets did everything they could to keep him going but he passed away in his sleep. We are incredibly grateful for the donations made towards Odin treatment and we will use what is needed to pay his vet bill and we will donate the rest between our favourite dog charities the donations will help further dogs in need at this tough time. If you have photos or videos or stories about Odin then please send them or share them with us. Please understand we will try reply to all your messages at this very difficult time in our lives.

William Mulhall, Odin’s owner shared the news on Instagram. “Our family are at immense heartbreak to announce that Odin passed away early this morning. It’s difficult to put into words how this has impacted us as a family for Odin led a life like no other dog,” William wrote in the post. Odin appeared on the HBO show in the first season’s first episode as a direwolf puppy that Bran receives and is then named Summer.

“We can all take great comfort in knowing that he is forever immortalised in the great TV show Game of Thrones as Summer, Bran Stark’s Direwolf Pup in Season 1 episode 1. To everyone that was lucky enough to meet him and put a smile on your face, please remember that moment. It’s an incredible piece of luck to have a pet you love so well become world famous and touch so many people’s hearts,” Mulhall further wrote in the post.

William runs Direwolf Tours, which takes people to visit different GoT filming locations in Northern Ireland with his dogs. Odin survives through his brother Thor, who also appeared on Game of Thrones. Thor played Grey Wind as Robb Stark’s direwolf puppy in the first episode of the first season. 10-year old Odin developed mouth cancer last year in November and was undergoing treatment since then. After the shutdown due to COVID-19, William could no longer hold the tours. Thus, it wasn’t possible for him to afford the costly treatment for Odin’s severe condition. He had urged fans to donate on his GoFundMe page to meet a target of £15000. The page had met its target successfully by Friday, but could not result in saving Odin. William thanked everyone for their donations.

The post also informed us of Odin’s final days and doctor’s efforts to save him. “He was always fond of the beach and his favorite treats which he had almost every day before his passing…the vets did everything to keep him going but he passed away in his sleep,” the post read.

While it’s not welcome news at all, we wish Odin finds peace in the realms here and beyond. He will always be Summer! If you’ve taken any of William’s direwolf tours, you can share your stories and photos with him. It would certainly make his day.
