Game of Thrones Season 8 is coming on April 14 and as the trailer has given us a glimpse, I’ll tell you what’s actually coming: lots and lots of bloodsheds, multiple character deaths, and much more. Yet, since we’re only a month away from Game of Thrones Season 8, we’ve brought you great news especially if you’re a big fan of Kit Harington. The great news is that Kit is all scheduled to host an episode of Saturday Night Live in April this year.

Harington, according to the latest announcement by Saturday Night Live will be hosting this episode of the show on April 6th which is exactly eight days prior to the new season of Game of Thrones premiering on April 14. Moreover, apart from him, the Oscar nominee Emma Stone will also be getting the April 13th episode to host. This news was announced by Saturday Night Live via their Twitter handle recently.

This isn’t the first time a Game of Thrones cast member has been given an opportunity to host an episode of SNL. Only three months ago, Jason Momoa – whose character Khal Drogo has been long dead in Game of Thrones had hosted an episode premiered on December 8, 2018. His show was quite a gig with lots of callbacks from Game of Thrones – Joffrey, Lady Ollena, Brienne, and especially with him offering Viserys’ Golden Crown to the much-hated High Sparrow.

Talking about Game of Thrones, Jon Snow has already become a major rival of Khal Drogo by taking his place as the new love interest of Daenerys Targaryen. And, this time it’s on Saturday Night Live. We absolutely have no idea about how things will work on or get messed up when Jon and Dany find out about their aunt-nephew relationship, yet we can expect the April 6th episode of Saturday Night Live to be a gig too with Kit Harington hosting it.

We’ll sure be getting more updates on Kit’s episode of SNL – a teaser, promotional photo, or much more. And about Game of Thrones, just a month seems to be an eternal wait. But, all we can do is wait till the month for both these gigs.

Seinfeld star Jason Alexander defends Game of Throne finale

It has been a long and arduous journey for Game of Thrones fans. The final season resulted in raging debates all over about the theories deemed forgotten. A lot of hate was directed towards the writers of the show, David Benioff and D. B. Weiss. Around 1 million fans signed a petition to remake the season and it invited ire from the cast members of the series.

There have been a lot of celebrities who are coming to the defence of the makers. The latest among them is a star fromof the legendary sitcom Seinfeld.

Jason Alexander who played George Constanza in the series took to Twitter to express his love for the season. He wrote, “Dear #GOT company, I know a little something about finales and disappointed fans. My advice: live in joy that you are part of something that moves people so. You were all magnificent. My family and I loved it all. Thanks.”

Seinfeld finale was also touted as a disaster by many of its fans and hence, probably Jason also went on to defend that as well.

“To be clear, I adored the Seinfeld finale. I just keep getting crap about it from fans. I loved that Jerry/Larry found an organic way to bring back all the amazing guests that enriched our show. It was an amazing week together filming it.”

Discussions ensued on both the Twitter threads about both the series making it clear once again as to how much both of them impacted the viewers.

Emilia Clarke turned down ‘Fifty Shades of Grey’ because she was sick and tired of being asked about nude scenes

emilia turned down 50 shades of grey because of game of thrones experience

Emilia Clarke has already played one of the most iconic characters in film and TV history, Daenerys Targaryen. But she was very close to playing another, very different kind of iconic role – Anastasia Steele from the Fifty Shades of Grey franchise. In a recent Actress Roundtable with Hollywood Reporter Emilia spoke in detail about why she turned it down. The reason, turns out, was the nudity requirement.

As Daenerys, Emilia has done nude scenes, but those were a long time ago and always in context. However, Emilia found that she was being asked about the nude scenes in interviews years after they aired, and a lot of her public image seemed to be defined by it.

In her own words, “the last time that I was naked on camera on [Game of Thrones] was a long time ago, and yet it is the only question that I ever get asked because I am a woman. And it’s annoying as hell and I’m sick and tired of it because I did it for the character — I didn’t do it so some guy could check out my tits, for God’s sake.”

Emilia felt that the media pigeonholed her in this way because she is a woman, and this was affecting her reputation as an actor. So when Fifty Shades of Grey came up, she had to say ‘no’ despite its director Sam Taylor-Johnson being a dear friend.

Emilia says, “I did a minimal amount and I’m pigeonholed for life, so me saying yes to that, where the entire thing is about sensuality and sex and being naked and all of that stuff, I was just like, “No way am I going to voluntarily walk into that situation and then never be able to look someone in the eye and be like, ‘No, you can’t keep asking me this question.’ “

Emilia is one of the many actors who have spoken up against the sexism and objectification of women in Hollywood productions in recent years. That an actor of her calibre had to turn down a project she wanted to do because of these things is just plain sad. Here’s looking at you, Hollywood!

Game of Thrones writer Bryan Cogman will work on Amazon’s Lord of the Rings

Game of Thrones writer/showrunner Bryan Cogman will work on Amazon's Lord of the Rings

On May 20th 2019, on the day of the Game of Thrones series finale, George R R Martin took to his “Not a Blog” to express his feelings about the show. In this post, he decided to tell us about the future journeys of the cast and the rest of the team of Game of Thrones.

We already knew that David Benioff and D. B. Weiss are making the next Star Wars films. What we did not know was that Bryan Cogman, the third writer/showrunner for Game of Thrones, who Martin very fondly calls “the third head of the dragon”, is going to start his work on a “big Tolkien project” with Amazon.

Martin’s exact words were:

“David and Dan are going on to STAR WARS and other projects beyond that. Amazon scooped up Bryan Cogman, and put him to work on developing shows of his own, as well as helping out on their big Tolkien project.”

Reportedly, Amazon is spending an insane amount of money (approximately $1 billion to make five seasons as per its deal struck with Tolkien estate) to make it. Bryan Cogman is the writer of some brilliantly made Game of Thrones’ episodes like “The Bear and the Maiden Fair”, “The Rains of Castamere”, “The Mountain and the Viper” and the very recent fan favourite, “A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms”.

After this, Variety also confirmed that Cogman was on board, alongside the writing team of JD Payne and Patrick McKay, for the show.

The details about the Lord of the Rings show are still hazy except the fact it will explore new storylines preceding J.R.R. Tolkien’s “The Fellowship of the Ring”. However, recently Amazon confirmed that it might be set during the “Second Age of Middle-earth”.

The show is expected to start filming by later this year. What do you guys think? Excited about the Middle Earth Saga coming to TV? Talk to us in the comments, down below!
