Nikolaj Coster-Waldau on Game of Thrones Season 8 and a popular fan theory

Initially hated as a character – Jaime Lannister has come a long way from pushing a ten-year-old out of a window to abandoning his sister for honoring a pledge. His last scene of riding north in a non-Lannister attire gave us many takeaways and theories for the final season. In a recent interview with the Huffington Post, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau – the actor who plays Jaime’s role addressed a few of them. Read on.

Recently, HBO gave us some hope for an earlier Game of Thrones Season 8 with a three-second-long footage from the same. And, as per the details we know about the airing schedule more footage and teasers may start dropping soon. Nikolaj too teased the final season. He said,

“I think if it hadn’t have been the last season, people would’ve just collapsed…We wouldn’t have made it. I mean, at one point the crew had 52 nights in one go in Northern Ireland. Just unheard of.”

New Game of Thrones set spotted, Season 8 filming continues

Of course, we all do understand the amount of hard work the entire team of Game of Thrones is putting in to make the final season memorable. Nikolaj also answered various other questions. On being asked about him recently nominated for the 2018 Emmys he said:

“I know. I wore them down, slowly but surely I was very surprised and very happy. I was on another trip in Greenland and I was standing in the airport with my two daughters and our two dogs and we’d been rerouted. I was trying to persuade this cop to allow me to take the dogs out because they were about to … I’d say pee their pants, but they were ready to go. Then, I got the call [about the Emmys] and it was very confusing — a perfect way to find out. The cop then allowed the dogs to go out so it was a huge moment of joy for the dogs and for me. For different reasons, but we shared the joy.”

The final scene shared between Jaime Lannister and his sister Cersei Lannister surprised us manifold. Talking about what it felt to him reading the script for the finale of the seventh season, the actor revealed:

One of the difficult things with this show as an actor — and I speak for myself — is, up until Season 3, I knew what was going to happen. Then, after that, the writers kept everything very close to the chest. They didn’t share anything but the scripts. Now, of course, you use your imagination all the time, so I kept imagining what would happen after we finished the season. You build these whole storylines up and then suddenly you come back and you read the scripts and you go, “Oh, well, how am I going to do that? How am I going to get to that point?” In my mind, after Season 6 ― which ends with Jaime coming back [to King’s Landing] and seeing Cersei on the throne ― I imagined a lot of other things happening.

Dan and David have always played the long game the way they stretch things out, so when you get the payoff it really pays off. And we had a lot of almost heated discussions about how I was going to get to that point [with Cersei]. Like, [I asked], “Why don’t they discuss in depth the death of their son [Tommen]?” And they told me, “Well they do, but we don’t see that.” So all those things. It’s so much fun and difficult, and it’s also very frustrating. But then when you finally find your way, it’s very rewarding. For me, anyway…”

Talking about what’s next in line for Jaime in the final season, the actor said:

“Well, he is heading north. I don’t think you can assume that he’s going to make it up there, but who knows. For sure, we see him head north. He might be eaten by dragons, you never know. Or he might just stumble, things happen. Or he might find the love of his life and suddenly he’s like, “God, this is it. No more.”

The scripts for the final season had totally broken the hearts of the cast members like Emilia Clarke (Daenerys Targaryen), who almost cried reading it. We wonder what it would make us feel watching it on-screen when the final season finally airs.

Talking about the same experience Coster-Waldau revealed, “I wrote the writers when I finished reading and just said, “I don’t think you could’ve done a better job at finishing this story.” To me, it was very satisfying but also very surprising and all the things that I was hoping for. It still made sense. It wasn’t like one of those where the killer is suddenly revealed in the last act and you go, “Oh! I didn’t see that coming.” Here, they’ve done a really, really good job.”

Upon Game of Thrones coming to an end and his experience working with the entire cast and crew for one last time, the actor said:

“It was a little bit emotional at the very, very end. It’s also just a build-up because throughout the season we had a lot of teary goodbyes and farewell dinners. When my turn came around, I really didn’t think it was going to phase me, but I have to admit that right when they said, “This is a series wrap for Nikolaj,” there might have been a tiny bit of moisture in the air, just around my eyes. But that was it…that was it.”

Finally, talking about the possibility of the theory of Gendry being a legitimate Baratheon (son of Robert Baratheon and Cersei Lannister) Nikolaj said:

“She’s been a busy bee, my dear sister. There are so many theories out there that you comment on one and then it takes on its own life. But, yes, I’ve heard that Gendry… I think Joe just wanted to get on the throne and that’s why he’s putting it out there.”

We hope that more interviews, footage, and teasers may arrive soon to ease up our cravings for the final season of Game of Thrones. Tell us your thoughts in the comments.

Most viewers were satisfied with the final season of Game of Thrones, says online poll

Most viewers were satisfied with the final season of Game of Thrones; says an online poll

Game of Thrones is one of the most talked-about things in recent times. Although one means no disrespect towards the saga of Ice and Fire, the popular opinion has seemed to lean towards the negative during and after the show’s final season. Inconsistent character arcs, premature swansong, lack of explanation, etc. were some of the opinions floating around the internet and our social circles. The dissatisfaction felt very real when more than a million people signed a petition to urge HBO to remake the final season.

While it’s easy to take the Mountain i.e. the Game of Thrones down on negative howls, it takes a lot more than a Hound to actually do so. YouGov, internet-based market research and data analytics firm proved the same with a recently conducted online survey. It has revealed some interesting data related to our beloved show and its reception among the viewers. And it’s not all negative. Read on!

Most viewers were satisfied with the final season of Game of Thrones; says an online poll

The company conducted the digital poll keeping Emmy’s in the eye. It speaks for the nominated shows on behalf of 2475 US adults selected from a panel of 1.2 million individuals. The sample size doesn’t seem so significant and even limits the geography to the USA. Yet it can account for popular opinion due to random sampling involved in the selection of the participants.

Without any further ado, let’s dive into the findings that pertain to Game of Thrones.

The extent of satisfaction: 52% of participants said that they were “very satisfied” or “somewhat satisfied” with the final season of Game of Thrones. So yeah, most people seem to be satisfied. However, 41% expressed that they were unsatisfied, with 7% choosing no sides. Not the result one anticipated for Game of Thrones before the final season aired.

Outstanding Drama Series: 18% of people chose the HBO series as the most deserving show to win the Outstanding Drama Series at the Emmy’s; the most for any show. We know that there’s going to be no more Game of Thrones, at least not in the present form. So, it could be an emotional choice or perhaps a callback for the cumulative experience the series has generated over the years. Or maybe, they genuinely liked the whole thing!

Level of Engagement with the show: 18% said that they had watched every single episode of Game of Thrones to date; while a whopping 44% have neither watched a single episode nor intend to; again the most among all the shows. This feels ironical; a show that got more eyeballs than any other show has also managed to escape the fancy of an equally huge number.

David Benioff and D.B. Weiss: When asked if they would be interested in watching something that the Game of Thrones showrunners make, 29% expressed an interest while 38% chose to be uninterested in their future ventures. The duo has received the maximum flak for the final season not being up to the mark. No wonder, the results don’t reflect otherwise.

Now, these revelations are not set in stone nor do they speak on behalf of everyone. There is even a margin of statistical error in the analysis itself. But they do involve a methodology and represent a general trend towards the sought-after show. Game of Thrones has sparked conversations with every new season since its inception. And it’s still very much alive, especially with multiple promising prequels in the pipeline. In spite of all that, we can hardly say that the show got an ideal farewell from the viewers.

If you were to ask us, we would say we were content with the final result; i.e. the final position of every character in Westeros or to the West of it (Arya), although we don’t think this was the best way to reach there. What do you guys think? Tell us in the comments below.

Emilia Clarke is vacationing in India with Rose Leslie, reveals details on Instagram

Game of Thrones stars have had one of the more stressful jobs of the decade, being so popular, and acting in a show that has an intense production as well as the attention surrounding it. So it’s understandable when you hear that the Mother of Dragons, Emilia Clarke, is currently on a spiritual vacation to India, accompanied by none other than Rose Leslie, who played Ygritte, and they seem to be having a great time. Read on!

Emilia recently posted a bunch of pictures through an Instagram post, showing her and Rose having the best time in India, and even getting robbed by some monkeys. Check it out:

Emilia says in a hashtag in the caption that she was at Ananda Spa Himalayas, and then discusses her off time spent in India with her bestie, Rose Leslie. Looks like the pair left Kit Harington behind on this little trip. Emilia also revealed that they were robbed by monkeys, which is quite a common sight in some parts of India and even included a picture of a bunch of adorable monkeys caught red-handed.

Emilia also seemed to have gotten some reading done in her time in India, and it seems like it was, all in all, a relaxing trip after a decade on Game of Thrones. That’s not all, a while ago, Emilia had revealed that she was about 1/8th Indian, through her grandmother that was half Indian, and that she loved that part of herself.

Well, it’s unclear if the pair are still in India, but you might spot them around if they are. Talk to us in the comments, down below!

Robb Stark and Jon Snow to have their long awaited reunion, in the Marvel Cinematic Universe!

Game of Thrones was often brutal towards its characters, and that’s why we have been starved of reunions. So when a reunion manifests in the real world, may it just be two cast members posing for a picture together, it’s exciting. This week we had one of the most exciting Thrones reunion news, and that is of Robb Stark and Jon Snow. Read on!

As you might know, the Disney D23 Expo has been exploding with news this week, and among the reveals were two that starred the Stark brothers. It was announced recently that Richard Madden, who played Robb Stark, is all set to star in the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s upcoming film, The Eternals. His costume for the same was revealed at the expo, immediately followed another big news. Kit Harington was confirmed as a cast member for The Eternals, playing Dane Whitman, a.k.a. Black Knight.

While Dane isn’t a part of the group calling themselves the Eternals, he is a very important character. The Black Knight bit did get the fans talking about how this casting fulfils a reunion link between the Stark brothers from a long time ago:

Well, it looks like that came true after all:

The film is set for a November 2020 release. Excited for the film yet? We sure are! Talk to us in the comments, down below!
