New actress and new casting notice for Game of Thrones Season 8!

Game of Thrones Season 8 has been filming for a while now, and from what we know, it seems like it will be going on for a quite a while more. Today we have another big update on the filming, with two major casting related bits. Let’s get into it!

Starting off, let us remind you about an old casting news that you might have missed. Two actresses were confirmed to be starring in Season 8 of Game of Thrones, namely Danielle Galligan and Emer McDaid. They then posted a picture on Instagram with another actress: Alice Nokes. However, we didn’t know if Nokes would be starring on the show, until now. Her agency CV now reads to confirm that she will appear in Season 8, as a character named “Willa.” She will star in an episode directed by David Nutter episode this season, which means one of episode 1, 2, or 4.

We do not know of any Willa that exists in the ASOIAF universe that could have an appropriate opening to appear in Season 8. “Wylla” gets close but it seems like it is likely that this is a new character, written for the show.

Moving on, there is a new casting notice. Watchers on the Wall reports that the show is casting the role of a Military Guard. Aged 25-35, no ethnicity specified, and is supposed to be a one day filming part, with filming set in Northern Ireland, on March 2nd. The description calls for “fit and agile excellent actor with a good distinctive face,” and looks like “he can handle himself in a fight.” So looks like this is set to be a small but memorable part.

More on that as it develops. What do you think about the new actress and the new character casting? Any speculations? Talk to us in the comments, down below!

Drogon broke the wheel in the Game Of Thrones series finale

Why did Drogon do THAT in the series finale

The last episode to the Game of Thrones series dropped today and things went up in flames courtesy Drogon. Tons of spoilers coming up ahead so watch out.

With a little cajoling from Tyrion and yeah, also the fact that Daenerys barbecued thousands of innocent civilians in King’s Landing, Jon FINALLY came to the conclusion that Dany probably wasn’t the best option for Westeros. After a final bout of reasoning where he tried to make her see the light and she refused, Jon finally decided he had had enough and stabbed her in the gut.

Why did Drogon do THAT in the series finale

Drogon then arrived on the scene and upon realising his mom was dead, went on a fiery rampage that didn’t char grill Jon Snow as you would have expected. Instead, he turned on the Iron Throne and melted it to the ground. If you think about it, this was kind of poetic. Daenerys has been talking about breaking the wheel for as long as anyone can remember. The Iron Throne through the often questionable people who sat on it has been the site of injustice and atrocity, and in melting it down, Drogon paid a final tribute to his mother by breaking the final wheel. In addition to this, it was her ancestor who built the Iron Throne using Dragon fire and now Dragon fire was used to destroy it.

The series really did come full circle because the object that everyone’s been fighting over since the very beginning, is now no more.

What did you think of the finale?

Sansa Stark gets a satisfying end in Game of Thrones Season 8 Finale

That one thing Sansa Stark has wanted since Season 1, she got in Game of Thrones Season 8 Grand Finale. That’s a lot to say in comparison to some of our other main characters. Sophie Turner had promised a satisfying end for Sansa in a recent interview, and she proved to be quite right.

The rest of this article contains spoilers. So if you haven’t watched the Finale yet, take heed!

game of thrones sansa finale satisfying end

Sansa Stark had endured much and learned more in her journey through the eight seasons of Game of Thrones. All her sufferings stand paid back in full when the crown settled upon her head and all the lords and ladies hailed the “Queen in the North” in unison.

Sansa has been working for an independent North ever since she escaped Ramsay Bolton’s clutch. She could have chosen to remain with the Southern Kingdoms since her own brother is King now. With Jon and Arya gone, she would have wielded great power in King’s Landing politics as the Wardeness of the North. But she chose to uphold the Northern people’s wish for independence.

Sansa’s ‘little bird’ comment may have caused an uproar, but it makes sense in her story. She survived Cersei, Ramsay and even Littlefinger by learning what they did best and then using that knowledge against them. And here she put that political acumen to good use by setting up Daenerys Targaryen for her doom and negotiating independence for the North.

Sansa did not become the queen of the Seven Kingdoms as she had once naively dreamed. But she did become queen, and in a far more poignant way, by fighting for independence from centuries of Southern control.

Her crowning is also the geopolitical representation of “breaking the wheel”. North was free before Aegon Targaryen came and united the seven separate kingdoms into a united whole. In a sense, Aegon “made the wheel”.

With the North seceding from Aegon’s empire the wheel is well and truly undone. And under all its wars, intrigues, and prophecies, that is what Game of Thrones was all about.

Season 8 finale finally revealed who won the Game Of Thrones

HBO releases photos from Game Of Thrones Season 8 Episode 6: The Iron Throne

When you play the Game of Thrones, you either win or you die. Game of Thrones, a show we have been hooked on for nearly a decade, ended its final episode today. Season 8, episode 6, titled “The Iron Throne” had a lot of great moments, but the biggest moment was when it gave us the new ruler of Westeros. Before we proceed — SPOILER ALERT! Consider yourself warned!

The whole point of the series had been about who gets to sit on the Iron Throne after Robert Baratheon’s death spiralled off a series of conflicts. We see the new ruler being chosen in a flash forward scene, with all the important lords and ladies of Westeros together in the Dragonpit. We saw a few old faces return after a long time — Robyn Arryn, all grown up, and Edmure Tully, most importantly.

The scene is actually about the trial of Tyrion Lannister, who had been a prisoner for betraying Daenerys Targaryen. An angry Grey Worm brings Tyrion, and as per his usual style, eventually, Tyrion soon gets to talking. He talks about how there can be no better ruler than the one that holds all memories of the realm, Bran Stark, A.K.A. Bran the Broken.

All the lords agree, but one — Sansa Stark. She believes the North should be independent, despite the fact that his brother has become King, and Bran permits it. Bran is then pronounced the King of the Six Kingdoms, and chooses Tyrion to be his hand.

Everyone was expecting Jon Snow or Daenerys Targaryen to sit on the Iron Throne, but the show has revolved around killing our expectations, and it did so one last time, beautifully. What did you think about Bran Stark becoming King? Talk to us in the comments, down below!
