Game of Thrones Season 6 Episode 4 Review: Book Of The Stranger

Game of Thrones season 6 episode 3 : Book of the Stranger was a beautiful episode which had many emotional moments in it. We got to see the reunion of Jon Snow and Sansa Stark and it was a truly wonderful moment. We also got to see Jon Snow laughing and this was a big change from what we were seeing throughout the series where the Stark family always suffers in one way or the another.

We also got to see a possible love story between Brienne and Tormund and the fans simply loved the scenes between them, even though they were short and didn’t have any dialogues. Tyrion also showed that a solution could be achieved using diplomacy and Daenerys showed the Khals that she was the boss and took over the control of the Dothraki, after burning them in the temple of Dosh Khaleen.

Overall, it was a positive episode and we went through the episode to look for details. So here are the details that you might have missed in Game of Thrones season 6 episode 3 : Book of the Stranger.

1. Jon Snow and Sansa meet each other for first time after season 1

Sophie Turner talks about the emotional Stark family reunion

Game of Thrones show has been pretty hard on the Starks. The entire family has suffered a lot and finally there was something to cheer for the Stark fans. The last time we saw Jon Snow and Sansa Stark together was in the first episode of Game of Thrones season 1! That surely is a long long time.

2. Jon Snow and Sansa Stark exchanged words for the first time in the show

Even though Jon and Sansa were together in the first episode of season 1, they didn’t have any interaction. So this was the first time in the entire series that Sansa and Jon talked with each other. It’s funny to know that the first word between was “good soup.”

3. Two members of the Stark family are together for the first time since Red Wedding

Even though Jon Snow is not a Stark but he still is Ned Stark’s son. For now. The last time we saw two members of the Stark family together was in Game of Thrones season 3 episode 9 in which we saw the infamous Red Wedding. Robb and Catelyn Stark were brutally murdered in the episode. Also, in the same episode, Bran and Rickon Stark decided to split up.

4. Jon is wearing the Stark armour

Fan theory suggests Jon Snow's new appearance might hint at the outcome of certain events

In the episode you can see that Jon Snow has changed his attire and now he is wearing the Stark armour, which was worn by Ned and Robb Stark.

5. The parallel between Theon’s return to Iron Islands

details you might have missed in Game of Thrones season 6 episode 3 : Book of the Stranger

This is not the first time Theon is returning to the Iron Islands. He first returned to the Iron Islands in season 2, when he still was Theon and not Reek. We saw a happy and confident Theon returning and the weather was clear. Now when the broken and demoralised Theon returns to Iron Islands in season 6, the weather is dark and gloomy.

6. Osha referred to the Thenns

In the scene in which Osha was with Ramsay, she asked Ramsay if the Boltons eat people after flaying them and when he said no, her reply was that she had seen far worse. She was referring to the Thenns in this scene. The Thenns are known to be cannibals.

7. Tyrion quoted Litlefinger

It is interesting to see that Tyrion Lannister quoted Petyr Baelish in the episode. The quote, “We make peace with our enemies, not our friends,” was first said by Littlefinger in the show.

Lucifer and Michael are locking horns for a final showdown, because Michael is willing to kill those who won’t obey him. In a dramatic and long-drawn-out battle, Lucifer defeats Michael with Chloe’s help. Legendary Valyrian Steel Swords to look out for in House of The Dragon: Part 2

Valyrian Steel Swords are very priceless and magical weapons that are possessed by very few. By the time of Game of Thrones, we see only a handful of individuals who have access to them. But 300 years ago, during the events of House of the Dragon, they were much more in number.

We have seen a few of them in HBO’s TV adaptation of Game of Thrones. But there will be a lot more in the prequel show House of The Dragon. There have been about 227 Valyrian steel swords that have been recorded in the history of Westeros, most of them have been lost or destroyed. Let’s have a look at a few of them that might make an appearance in House of The Dragon. We covered a few of them in the previous article, here’s the link. Do check it out!

Lamentation

Lamentation was a famed Valyrian steel sword that belonged to House Royce. Ser Willam Royce wielded the blade during the Dance of the Dragons. The sword was torn from the hand of Willam, however, when he was killed during the Ride of the Seven. With Willam’s death, the sword was carried off, never to be found again. However, some rumours claim that Ser Warrick Wheaton slashed a wing off of Syrax with a Valyrian steel sword, likely Lamentation, during the Storming of the Dragonpit.

Dark Sister

Dark Sister is a famous longsword of Valyrian steel. It is one of two ancestral swords of House Targaryen. Dark Sister had a slender blade originally designed for a woman’s hand. It was wielded by Visenya Targaryen during Aegon’s conquest of Westeros. During the Dance of the Dragons, it was the prime weapon of choice for Prince Daemon Targaryen. Dark Sister was lost when the last wielder of the sword, Brynden Rivers, went missing beyond the Wall in 252 AC.

Longclaw

Longclaw is the ancestral Valyrian steel sword of House Mormont. It is the same sword Jeor Mormont gifts to Jon Snow at the Night’s Watch in Game of Thrones. The Mormonts supported the Starks in their allegiance with Rhaenyra Targaryen during the Dance of the Dragons.

Lady Forlorn

Lady Forlorn is the ancestral longsword made of Valyrian steel belonging to House Corbray. The sword has a heart-shaped ruby in its pommel and its blade is smokey-grey in appearance. Ser Corwyn Corbray wielded Lady Forlorn during the Dance of the Dragons. It was in the possession of Ser Lyn Corbray in Game of Thrones.

House of The Dragon’s Co-showrunner Ryan Condal confirms the existence of 3 famous Valyrian steel swords in the show

Valyrian steel swords have always been a source of fascination for the fans of Game of Thrones. Made of a fictional metal in the ancient land of Valyria, not many such weapons survive since its doom. They are very rare, priceless, magic-infused and are often passed down as family heirlooms.

Vigilance

Vigilance is a Valyrian steel longsword belonging to House Hightower. It was last wielded by Ormund Hightower during the Dance of the Dragons and he fought for King Aegon II Targaryen. Ormund was slain by Roderick Dustin during the first battle of Tumbleton, after which the sword was lost forever.

Ice

Ned Stark wielding Ice, Game of Thrones (HBO)

Ice is the ancestral greatsword of House Stark made of Valyrian steel. It is the sword that was wielded by Ned Stark in Game of Thrones. The sword was wielded by Lord Cregan Stark during the Dance of the Dragons, who was the Warden of the North during the period. He supported Rhaenyra Targaryen due to his pledge known as the Pact of Ice and Fire.

Truth

Truth was a Valyrian steel longsword carried by Moredo Rogare, a Lysene noble from the wealthy banking Rogare family. During the Dance of the Dragons, the Rogare Bank rivalled the Iron Bank of Braavos in size. We might get a glimpse of the sword in House of The Dragon.

Orphan-Maker

Orphan-Maker is a Valyrian steel longsword belonging to House Roxton with a black blade. Ser Jon Roxton wielded the blade during the Dance of the Dragons. He sided with King Aegon II Targaryen and the sword was used in the Battle of Honeywine and the second battle of Tumbleton. The sword later came into the possession of Lord Unwin Peake, after which its whereabouts are unknown.

Blackfyre

Blackfyre is the fabled hand-and-a-half longsword of Valyrian steel once wielded by Aegon the Conqueror. It is perhaps the most famous sword in all of Westeros. Aegon II Targaryen’s possession of Blackfyre enhanced his legitimacy against his rival, Rhaenyra Targaryen, during the Dance of the Dragons. It was lost after the Blackfyre rebellion.
