Game of Thrones is a bold show in many ways, and one of them is the lack of hesitation in killing off even the (seemingly) most important of characters. So many of our favorite characters have died over the run time of the show that now we don’t even dare to have favorites, anymore. With Season 7 on the way, many more deaths are expected, especially since Winter is here now. A new virtual Game of Thrones graveyard now lets you pay tributes to your favorite Game of Thrones characters that have departed.
Designed by Chris Kirk, the web developer for New York Magazine, the virtual graveyard is hosted on Slate. It’s a lovely interactive graveyard with graves of all the characters that have died on the show, and you can leave a flower on their grave by clicking on it.
Now, there are little things about this small project that are actually quite nice. First of all, one person can pay a flower to a grave only once. Secondly, the newer, fresher graves are shown to have fresh mud on them, while the older ones are cemented in. The graves of Jon Snow, and Sandor Clegane, have a very zombie-esque hand breaking out of their graves, signifying their return from the dead.
The graves also have the respective house sigils at the top of the tombstone, for those who belong to one, and the number of the episode in which the character died. Direwolves make the list, too, and members of the Night’s Watch are shown to have a crow sitting atop their tombstone.
With over 330,000 flowers, Ned Stark leads the way, followed by Robb Stark, who has over 260,000 flowers, and then Oberyn Martell (240,000+), Khal Drogo (200,000+) and Catelyn Stark (200,000+). What are you waiting for? Head over to the Game of Thrones graveyard, here, and pay your respects!
