Game of Thrones has been one of the most successful shows, ever, and as such, we were not surprised when we heard that HBO was pursuing four spinoff ideas. We were delighted when George R. R. Martin revealed that a total of five ideas were under development, and that all of them are prequel material. Now, we know there are so many things in the history of Westeros which we need to see on screen, and a filmmaker duo from Belfast, Northern Ireland has now made their own version of a Game of Thrones prequel, and it’s amazing!
Titled The Wild Wolf, the film is made by two film school students from Belfast, named Shane Gibson and Ciaran McIlhatton. The film was announced last year, and it focuses on the duel between Littlefinger (Petyr Baelish), and Ned Stark’s brother, Brandon Stark, over who should get Catelyn Tully. The 16-minute film was recently uploaded to YouTube, by the team, named Wild Wolf Films. Watch it below :
The movie is refreshing, first of all, simply because we haven’t seen Brandon Stark, on the show. Secondly, the film has decent production quality, the cast has been picked well, and Gibson has done a great job playing the lead.
Not only did all the cast members do justice to their characters, and the script solid, the film also managed to get the locations just right. The castle looks quite similar to how Riverrun is described in the books. We certainly hope to see more such stuff from Wild Wolf Films, especially something about Robert’s Rebellion, maybe! Or the history of Targaryen family, perhaps.
How did you like the film? Got any ideas for what you would like to see from Wild Wolf Films next? Tell us in the comments, down below!
