The cast of Game of Thrones is certainly a busy one, with stars from the show landing roles in other major projects while they’re not busy filming for the show. While all actors do justice to their characters, there are few that stand apart, nonetheless. One of our favorite stars from the show is Aiden Gillen, who plays the role of Littlefinger (Petyr Baelish), who now stars in King Arthur: Legend of the Sword. He recently spoke about how the film provided a setting familiar to him because of Game of Thrones. Read on!
According to a new report by Belfast Telegraph, Aiden Gillen recently spoke to the press while at the European premiere of King Arthur, in London’s Leicester Square. Comparing the film to Game of Thrones, he said:
“It’s not the same, though there are similarities in those medieval-style fantasies. Game Of Thrones is not this world, but it is part of that fantasy genre – and this film is quite heavy on the sorcery and mysticism, so it is a world I am familiar with.”
However. Gillen did say that while the two are comparable, they are not quite the same and that he could tell the difference. Aiden plays the role of Goose Fat Bill, an archer who works with King Arthur. He had said that it was a break from Littlefinger, in a previous interview. Speaking along the same lines, Gillen said:
“..but it doesn’t feel like the same job, so it does feel like I am getting a break.”
Aidan Gillen will return as Littlefinger, in Game of Thrones Season 7, which is set to start airing July 16th. Until then, you can go watch him in King Arthur: Legend of the Sword, which has begun its worldwide release, recently, from May 12. Are you planning on watching this film?
