George R. R. Martin scheduled for a talk at UC San Diego in May. Will discuss his life and work
As most of you already know, Game of Thrones is based on A Song of Ice and Fire, a series of novels by George R. R. Martin. While the show will now be premiering Season 7, the sixth book, The Winds of Winter, is yet to come out. The show has now surpassed the books in terms of storyline, and while we haven’t had a new book in the series for long, Winds has been said to be probably coming out this year.
George has said that he will be cutting down on his public appearances till the book is finished, but we have now details about his next public appearance, which will apparently take place at San Diego. Read on!
A recent report by NBC San Diego says that George R. R. Martin will be travelling to University of California at San Diego, to deliver a talk where he will discuss his life and work. Science fiction author Kim Stanley Robinson, who is known for his Mars trilogy, will be joining George onstage. The talk has been titled, “An evening on the craft of writing with George R.R. Martin in conversation with Kim Stanley Robinson.” You can read the official details of the same, here.
The details of what exactly George will discuss are yet unknown. The title, however, suggests that he will be discussing the craft of writing, so we’re expecting he’ll be discussing the plot and character development in A Song of Ice and Fire, and more. So if you’re living in or around San Diego, you should try to check it out.
The talk will be held on May 2, starting at 7.00 p.m. local time, at the Price Center Theater. The tickets are up for sale at the UCSD Box Office, priced at $40 for general admission, $20 if you’re faculty or staff. Students of UC San Diego with a valid ID will walk in free. Grab yours, here.
