Roose Bolton, the character who was once loyal to Starks but then killed Robb Stark in Red Wedding and deceived Starks was now killed by his bastard son in the same manner as he killed Robb Stark. History does repeat itself, eh? Roose Bolton is now dead on the show but the actor who plays Roose Bolton, Michael McElhatton recently gave an interview to Telegraph and opened about several things.
On being asked as to how he managed to build a relationship that twisted with Iwan Rheon, who played Ramsay Bolton, his bastard son on the show, Michael said, “It’s all in the script. It’s all there on the page – it’s pretty flawless really. That is one of the more fascinating aspects of the the series, the parent-child relationships throughout – all the characters really. We rehearse, of course, and we have great directors and they give us the time to do it properly. We’ve all been in it quite some time now and each season you discover a different facet of each relationship. But the scripts give it to you.”
He then speaks about show’s success secret and whether showmakers are strict about spoilers and says that, the secret of show’s success is that, “It never lacks stories. Other series tend to dip but this has got a plethora of characters and the storylines are so strong, and it just seems to gather momentum. That’s what I found fascinating: the relationships, the characters, plus the sheer cinematic quality of it. There’s nothing like the scale of it on television – it’s just extraordinary.”
He also tells telegraph that the real fans do not want spoilers. He says, “The real fans of the show don’t want to know. If you meet them, they tell you – “we don’t want to know!” And you have to respect that. People just want to know who dies really.”
