Jon Snow is back and the world celebrated, at least momentarily. The scene where Melisandre is resurrecting Jon is etched in people’s minds. After all, that was the scene which brought the beloved Lord Commander back to life. Now scenes like that require perfection. And director Jeremy Podeswa wanted to do nothing less than that. Now this also meant that Jon’s corpse was washed again and again. According to Carice Van Houten, the actress who plays Melisandre on the show, Jon’s resurrection took a really long time. But everyone, including Carice’s own sister and mother were jealous of Carice for washing Jon so many times and getting to do that to Kit Harirngton’s body.
Carice told Entertainment Weekly that, “It took forever to resurrect him, forever! It was such an important scene, we shot it from so many angles. I think I washed his body 50 times. There would be a lot of people who would be very jealous, including my mother and sister. I was joking about that with him – ‘if only my mother could see this’ – and he loved that.”
Its rather obvious that a lot of people were jealous of her but Kit’s reaction is even adorable. He spoke about how shooting the first two episodes was really easy for him because he just had to lie down on a table in a warm room which he generally did not get to do on the show as his scenes majorly involved fighting in the cold. He said, “It was such an easy two episodes; I loved it. I’m in a warm room, which is unusual for me.” He also spoke about his experience with Carice and the attention he got and chuckled, “very weird, like a teenage boy’s wet dream – you’re laying there naked and Carice van Houten is washing you.”
We are just glad this happened.
